Mike handled that discussion with that guy who falsely implicated Rachel quite well. It was not a case of letting it go. But he did point out that he was not pursuing the most severe option.

Law student here: The lawsuit she would have filed would have been the following: False termination - obviously Defamation - specifically per se under reckless disregard as they accused her of corporate espionage, a crime. Retaliation - if I were her attorney I would argue that because she plans to go to law school they saw her potential as a threat to established partners and nipped it in the bud. Basically it would destroy their reputation and scare away clients. She absolutely has a basis for a lawsuit. It’s amazing how wrong this show gets law sometimes.
Id just go for the first. The last one wont work, there’s nothing to suggest that they viewed her as a threat, defamation is tricky cause the evidence pointed there, and defamation requires the party to know the information theyre spreading is false
The problem with that is she would also burn her own reputation. An employee sueing their employer over a mistake, even after attempting to make her whole would be poisoned fruit.

No, she had nothing to lose. And Michael proved that Rachel didn't. By having Benjamin's testimony.
Pretty sure she chose that place to find out who actually was involved with the leaking on both sides and then sue them both for heaps of cash.
