    Nice to see all the different bricks from the blitz clearance cause over 50 years ago i use to live in Birkenhead and i use to play on a playground which was on an old derelict bomb site from the war with mounds of rubble on so more than lkely these were dumped in the mersey back then when the area was redeveloped, thanks for a different theme on mudlarking keep up the good work

    • @OLDFATHERTHAMES
      @OLDFATHERTHAMES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kim. Aw that's nice, glad you liked it. Really interesting to hear about your playing on the old bomb site. I have family members who grew up in Liverpool and they did much the same! Yes, the bricks were dumped on the estuary around the 1950s, to help stop coastal erosion. 🌊 ⚓

    Just amazing how much interest and history can be found in a collection of bricks. They are part of our national history. The Accrington NORI bricks were so hard they spelled IRON backwards. By the way Hafod is pronounced Havod in Welsh and Ruabon is pronounced with the emphasis on the 'a' in RuAbon. Please post more videos Marie.

    • @OLDFATHERTHAMES
      @OLDFATHERTHAMES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve! Thank you, love that info! I looked up Ruabon to see if I was pronouncing it correctly - I think whoever does the pronunciation vids needs a lesson from you. Didn't twig about Hafod though, good to know for next time! Love that little NORI/IRON tidbit. Should have mentioned it in the vid. I'm trying to make more and more vids so I can post a longer one every week. 🌊 ⚓

      Flipside like the actual other side? I think in most cases they were blank. Thanks for watching! 🌊 ⚓

    Interesting video - I love doing what you have done here. The pink 'plate' shard is from a teapot stand probably made in the 30s and would have had a teapot with the same glaze. They elevated the humble teapot into something the aspiring middle-classes would have purchased. I have two of this type in my collection of Moderne ceramics. Wood & Sons were the possible maker.

    • @OLDFATHERTHAMES
      @OLDFATHERTHAMES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cameron, that's really interesting, thank you! It was really bugging me. I was whizzing through all the possible 'stands' but didn't think of a teapot stand. What a lovely bit of info, thank you. 🌊 ⚓

    I saw your short video with the bone before and it would be very creepy if the mysterious part is a fragment of an artificial hip joint.
