My many-greats grandfather came to America in 1699 on a ship from Liverpool when he was only 19 years old. He was Quaker. It was called “that sick ship from Liverpool” because about half the passengers got sick and died on the voyage. I want to visit Liverpool one of these days.

When your next up north there is a beach near Crosby called ‘brick beach’ and it’s where a lot of the bomb damaged masonry from Liverpool was dumped, so lots of interesting carved stone and plenty of bricks to look at 👍🏻

Great video Si. You're absolutely right that we have to try new places and sometimes they don't yield anything special - but we don't know until we try. It's good to show those explorations as the search for history in itself is compelling. If it yields results that great, but often times it doesn't, as we both know :) . Really enjoyed this and learned a lot. loved the Scotland footage. And you did actually find some fab history. Dinosaur prints. wow.

The metal gag is called a scolds bridle. Originally used on mouthy wives or wives that were a pain in the arse. People may say it was cruel but its better than a ducking stool or being burnt at the stake. That was the alternative back in the day of the scolds bridle. Lol 😆

It’s about 5 mile of coast line of Victorian dump/ WW1&2 items. People’s marble fire places, bricks, bottles and so much more, was just scooped up and dumped including belongings. So worth a trip !

Many people, myself ibcluded, look to British news for honesty because we know the US news is sugar coated at the least if not heavily censored. So thank you for sharing. If i am ever able to teavel to the UK, this will be one of the places i visit, along with Bath, London and the city in Wales that so kindly treated my father as family during WW2. Bless you, and stay safe.💜

Wow, Simon! That was fantastic! Thanks so much for taking us all to Liverpool! Most of us will never get there in person so you have shown us so many features that we surely would never see. Such a shame that so many huge iron items just sit 8n the mud and rot away. I suppose it’s not worth trying to recycle them though. That spiral in the museum reminded me of the Guggenheim Gallery in New York. Lovely architecture. I really enjoyed the whole vid. Thanks for taking us along with you.

The brick was from Accrington Nori . Local legend has it that the mould for the bricks was made the wrong way round. Bricks made here were known to be the hardest available as " as hard as iron" however because the print came out backwards they were forever known as Accrington Nori instead of Accrinton Iron.
