@10:30 Its all adjustable. Regen is set at 30% of the 120a bus bar current and its set for throttle release regen. It can easily be set for brake level regen.
The Votol has no throttle map or curve, linear only. But probably the setting you are talking about that makes it so sluggish is the soft start is enabled and the worst part os they set rate of rise very very low.
Sports mode has 120s then needs 30s but that can be changed in settings too.
The controller is Votol and normally super easy to program but of course Sondors wil make you just through a set if hoops to get connected. The software is free only but you will need to buy the debugging cable and make an adapter for it to plug in.
Once you can program the controller you can change the throttle response (but not the curve), regen by throttle release or brake lever (sensor), regen amount (tuned to riding preference), maximum speed in normal mode. Maximum speed downhill with a tailwind. Max speed sports mode. Battery protection voltages.
Once someone who knows what they are doing tunes the Votol correctly that bike will almost be worth the price.
You’re have a great place to ride but thats also the hardest type to tune with mountains and curves. If you change regen to brake activated you need to be careful because there is no modulation. Whatever you set it at thats what it will give.
Currently with throttle release regen the reason its tame is the rate of decline is set pretty low creating a time delay on the throttle closing and regen only slows it at that rate. With brake only regen you squeeze either brake level slightly and the rear tire will brake at about 35a so if theres wet leaves around a curve and you want less braking you need to reduce regen in the app to the maximum you can accept as minimum braking. And then remember use the left (rear) brake carefully because its stacking mechanical braking with regen and it will skid the rear tire.
Theres a new channel called Hacking Metacycle who shows how to make a cable and get connected but hes only beginning to learn how to program it.

Yeah I saw that channel and already ordered the parts. A few came in, rest here Monday. Should be fun!

@@PowerheadProductions, at least someone finally got the ball rolling and luckily Sondors didn’t order some locked controllers. As long as you save the original configuration file you should be able to go back to origin if you ever need to take it in for service. Lol

@@PowerheadProductions, they have some weird settings and I’m still waiting to see the port setting page. The most impressive thing is making one change, testing it, if its better save it under file name that identified it. Such as calibrating the throttle voltage endpoints to your throttle to eliminate deadband and then save it. It will never need to be changed again (if set correctly).
The other thing is turn off soft start and just use rate of rise and rate of decline for throttle response. The soft start makes it feel like a rubber band between your throttle and “carburetor”. Lol
      Looking forward to the videos.

Awesome info! Thanks for posting it!

It is absolutely awesome that you ordered a Metacycle and threw up all the videos you have posted about it!
There are a lot of other TH-camrs that have already done some videos and I believe I found most of them.
However most of those channels are not experienced motorcyclist riders. So they lack information in their videos that I was looking for from an experienced motorcyclists point of view.
I had a feeling that the pegs would be too low and you confirmed that almost immediately!
You also confirmed that the left levers for the rear brake so the right lever is for the front brake. At least they're not reversed like a scooter!
I like the dark headlight cover you installed that goes over to instrument cluster a bit to help see it better in bright sunlight.
I'm going to have to look at it getting one of those as well!
Keep us updated on the pegs as I well most likely replace them after you figure something out.
It looks like you're particular bike has standard spoked rims. I've noticed that some of the people that have been receiving their bikes are getting rims with tabs on them so they can run tubeless tires.
Hopefully mine comes with tubeless tire rims as it will make for a quick flat repair on the side of road!
I fully paid the $5k for mine along with the $700 shipping and confirmed my home shipping address for delivery and the paperwork for the motor vehicle bureau.
However it's been crickets since then and I had everything paid and confirmed before Thanksgiving 2022.
Since spring is going to be coming up soon I'm hoping they will contact me pretty soon to let me know the driver's on his way with my Arctic White Metacycle!
My trusty Yamaha YZF-600R's at the shop getting maintenance done on it in anticipation of spring! :-)

One thing I noticed when you had ridden off was that it had a specific noise I recognized.. made me think of my mountain bike.. then I realized that it was the disk brakes. All disk brakes drag ever so slightly and that bike is so quiet I could actually hear the pad drag. Definitely a neat toy. Looking forward to long term thoughts as you get to use it more.

Finally got my Metacycle out a bit here in the Colorado mountains. Thought I'd ask if your throttle tube wobbles around like the bar end bolt isn't going into anything? Not sure what will happen or what I'll find if I undo the bolt!

Zero FXS modular is 250lbs with one battery installed. You could buy one of those, keep a spare battery at the store and swap it out in 60 seconds for the ride back home, or keep both installed all the time. Used ones can be had for ~$5k with two batteries

Mundane question is how did your DMV process go? I bombed out 1/10/2023 in Colorado and will attempt again next Monday...I hope enough have tried that they have it figured out by now. Haven't had a chance to even try it out yet. Picked up in a snow storm 1/2/2023 and has been snowy and icey ever since! Glad to see it out, even riding easy, on the dragon. Have to love the dragon!

Super easy in NC actually. Somebody had already registered one in the state, so the brand was "in the system" so to speak. The lady at our DMV said even if it wasn't already in there, it's not a big deal to add it. Getting it insured into our policy with Geico took more time, but it was smooth as well. Sorry you're having to deal with that, but hey, like you said, can't ride much right now anyway, so what better timeframe to have to wait it out in.

The American family ended up calling it a 2022 Geely 🤷 how they were able get it into their system. By waiting out the last month I am hoping someone else got it into our system🤞

One TH-cam guy (Hacking Maetacycle) has already found a way to remove the Sport Mode time limitation., Although he says that prolonged use could burn out the controller or some other components. But you could, in theory replace those with better components and stay in Sport Mode all the time. Of course the range would suffer greatly.

    • @PowerheadProductions
      @PowerheadProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I've done that, it doesn't cause any problems for me since I'm on and off the throttle a lot. Definitely makes for a better run now. Range is a bit lower but not as affected as I thought it would be.

Great video, it does have regen you can even see the wattage indicator (Rpm looking bar) increase as it produces current on regen. Also $6500 now includes shipping according to webpage.
