    i just had to refit my ohlins yesterday - the 6mm bolt on the mounting block from the frame to the damper was bent? drilled and tapped to 8mm! gotta love the z1000. :)

    Thanks for your vids as always! Its another thing I waited forever to start to get into with my Z and the aftermarket sadly passed me by.

      Yeah, I'm kinda used to it seeing as how I gravitate towards bikes that are 2 decades old. I've only ever bought ONE brand-new bike in my life and swore I would never do it again, lol. Too much money.

      @@lonelyryder7441Same here! I think the only bike I bought new was a Kawi 650r back in 07 when I was starting out. I learned my lesson pretty quick and bought used ever since.

    Hey there, thxs for the Vid. Stupid question, does it allow to properly lock the steering wheel using the full turned key and immobilizer? Asking as it feels it might block it.

      I fully turn and lock my steering all the time, no issue.

    Hey, i just installed the same kind of damper but on a Z1000 2005. No matter how i get to it, when tightened, it touches the tank. The soldering on the other side is much thicker and takes more space making it closer to the gas tank. Do you think it can be a problem the fact that it touches the tank? Thank you in advance

      You mean the bracket that bolts onto the frame under the tank? Is that what is touching?

    • @user-uq4iu9dn7k
      @user-uq4iu9dn7k 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. That bracket. U managed to have it a couple of millimeters from the tank, mine touch it. I feel much more vibrations on/from the tank now. Wondering other side effects of it :( Minute 4:37 in your video.

      Most likely it will make removing the fuel tank difficult because it will rub, it will also probably scratch the paint off the front lip of the tank over time. You could try loosening the nut holding down the fuel tank under the seat and try pulling the tank backward, see if it will move at all. The only other thing I can think of is maybe see if you can get a thin piece of rubber between them, almost like a gasket.

      I tried to move a bit the tank but the problem was still there, it turned out that the angle of the upper bracket holding onto the frame (the part touching the frame) was too inclined, reason why it would always touch the tank. I solved the problem by adding a 4mm metal sheet at an angle under the upper bracket. Now it doesn't touch, thxs for the help.

    installed my ebay kit it works fine but when the bars are straight the damper is at a slight angle, kind of annoying but that’s what you get for ebay 🤷‍♂️

    Quick question I ride a gen1 . I'm from Ireland and petrol is changing to e10 just wondering if it's ok to run the bike on e10

    • @lonelyryder7441
      @lonelyryder7441  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be fine, here in America ALL of our regular gasoline has up to 10% ethanol. We can't even buy pump gas that DOESN'T have ethanol in it anymore. So technically, I've been running E10 in the Z for years without a problem.

    do you know any aftermarket 530 series front sprockets there are none made of for it but they have multiple rear 530 series sprockets?

    • @lonelyryder7441
      @lonelyryder7441  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right, I can't really find anything for the front in a 530 pitch. This is probably because the stock pitch is actually 525, and most people go down in size to a 520 (to reduce weight for racing), that might be why the selection of 530s is slim for this bike.

      @@lonelyryder7441 from everything I’ve looked up and found out I have to find a conversation kit for it because I tried to get a 525 series chain but would’ve waited a lot

    Where did you buy your clutch handle and your front brake handle? Link?

    • @lonelyryder7441
      @lonelyryder7441  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought them on eBay a while ago, that link is no longer active. Just search for "shorty levers" for your year/model and they will pop up.
