They are such great musicians with wonderful voices and brilliant at being funny too! I used to see them at the Queens in Cleveleys in the sixties with Brian Rossi. Great to bring those memories back.
I missed this the first time round. It was during a summer holiday two or three years ago that I mentioned the Barron Knights to an acquaintance of mine who was there at the time, and that's when he sang the "outside a chip shop in Walthamstow" line. I have finally got around to tracking down the record it came from! As a child of the 70s, it was 'A Taste of Aggro' that first drew my attention to the band.
ive had that lyric'lived a young rocker called greasy joe' or thereabouts running about my head for years.could never pin it down till now.thanks i owe a pint.
Saw them live in Felixstowe many years ago. Very funny and very clever - they had people nearly falling off their seats. They did serious stuff as well that night - their version of "Hard Habit to Break", once all the farts and smoke bombs were out of the way, was almost as good as the original.
The only song I know from them, is Lazy Fat People from 70' or 71'. Awesome song, got if from LimeWire - took 8 hours to download, but totally worth it. The cassette my dad had when I was a kid is long gone. If anyone has this video, it'd be great to see.
