    After watching so many videos with disgust and disappointment because they lacked professionalism, to the point instructions, using too many, "ums", or teaching someone and wasting time, or not explaining what medium of anything they're using, i almost gave up until i came to your video. I first saw the journal on Pinterest and it blew my mind. Never made one "ever", didn't even know they existed, so off I went to TH-cam. But after seeing your video, you made it easier to understand the basic foundations and now I can take it from here with much more confidence. You're a great teacher, so eloquent. Can't wait to start one, but will always come back to your video for support. Thank you!!!!

      thank you so much! I do admit that I "um" a lot, though :) Ever since my thyroid issues, my brain "ain't what it used to be" but I work hard to make things as concise as possible! Thank you so much. Glad you found this video!

    I agree with Mary Marlow..best tutorial I've seen...most just show the junk journal they've finished and not the steps..and I get it..especially if they're selling them on etsy or elsewhere and want to keep the competition low...but most of us just want to make them for ourselves and have no intention of selling them. Thank you again...love your channel!! xo

    Excellent tutorial! You have a special gift of giving directions in an extremely clear, to-the-point, and very easy-to-follow way! And that in itself is an art!
    Unfortunately, some people give such terribly confusing directions for even the simplest of projects, that they leave the once eager viewers with a sense of total discouragement and loss of motivation to ever pursue the project again!
    So I APPLAUD you and THANK you for sharing this journal-making technique with us in such an uncomplicated way! 👏
    Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

    That paper is gorgeous and I like the compact size too. You're so right about how different all of the videos are and how it all starts to blur as to what you picked up from where. I scored a large box of old Readers Digest recently - such lovely covers - but I'm going to make one like this, as your instructions are very clear to understand. Thanks.

    An excellent tutorial. I've made several of these. I would add the small cotton crochet thread used for doilies as a choice to use for sewing in the signatures.

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It comes in lots of pretty colors, too, which is great. It may stretch over time, which is why I use the waxed linen

    • @mbhughes6141
      @mbhughes6141 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LollyPalooza The colors are awesome. The thread doesn't stretch as I have found out in making tops with it. It will shrink if not washed correctly and then have stretch issues. You can wax any thread with beeswax. In Amazon, search for beeswax for quilting. Dritz has it for $3.80 and is Prime.

    When tea dying papers it will actually crumple them anyway & I always iron them afterwards & iron them well. Why do I iron them? 1.) You'll fit a lot more pages in your journal by ironing them. 2.) A journal is generally for writing in & You'll want your papers as flat as possible for this reason.

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rebekah Joanne Legion I don't even crumple them any more. This was my early attempt.

    • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543
      @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lolly Palooza Yeah, it's nice though if you use naturally crumpled parchment in between I find, just for tactility but not the writing ones. Did You find when You used to crumple them that it sometimes made it harder to align the papers as You sewed them in? My iron broke during my second journal attempt so I couldn't iron the printed cardstock papers I'd tea dyed. I found I had problems keeping them lined up right when I was threading the needle through. Yours were okay here cos You only crumpled a few in the middle & it does add to the tactile affect.It's all trial & error I guess. No right or wrongs as it's art

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rebekah Joanne Legion yes, they are more difficult to align.

    Do you have a tutorial on how to make a standard size junk journal? (Like the basic midori size? Or maybe just the measurements?) Really well informed video btw, nice job!

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. There is no standard size junk journal. It's a matter of preference. A Midori is a Traveler's Notebook, and even with that, there are a lot of different sizes out there. I found this helpful chicsparrow.com/pages/sizes-101 I've put all my mini albums, journals, and notebook videos into one playlist. You can look at the playlist and watch the ones that have "fauxdori" in the title. th-cam.com/play/PL4gDAGNgtKMEvf0SnMyOmeg6FtC6V20de.html

    Wonderful tutorial and beautiful journal. May I ask where you get small file folders or do you cut a regular size down and if so could I get the measurements for this journal? Thank you Lolly🌷

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just cut regular file folders down. I find boxes of them at thrift stores, so they are a cheap alternative to card stock. I do give measurements for everything in the video, from the papers that go into the signatures to the cover. Measurements are shares on each section as I describe it. :)

    I love the way you explain things😊 Thank you😊 I was thinking only the other day how mixed media has come into fashinon and I thought myself new to mixed media. Yet as children we are all naturally mixed media artists. We might have some crayons in some colours but want another colour and naturally grab a felt tip pen, which makes it mixed media. I wonder who was really the first mixed media artist, or are we all the inventors but just don't know it😊

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took art class in high school, and I had a hard time grasping the concept of mixed media and abstract art. I stuck to it, though!

    • @W._Langman
      @W._Langman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lolly Palooza I have never grasped abstract. But I think I understand now. It's less stressful. You don't have to worry about the outcome as much. It's about enjoying the process. So really, there is no point in looking at other people's abstract art. Unless you like the colours maybe? Oh I don't know, lol😄
