imho, key point here is that there is no standard on how long the blood is centrifuged. single spin gives you less PLT than double spin. each office varies. all of this varies on cost. lastly, there is no standard on frequency of prp injections. some offices inject 2 times; once every 2 weeks and some inject once weekly for total of 3 injects and others just give you one injection and see how you feel afterwards. there needs to be a universal standard.

Great video and I'm glad so many have great results. Please, if anyone can relate to my issue for some advice? In late 2021, after getting two rounds of Prolotherapy in Ann Arbor, MI. I had injections in C-5, C-6 and three weeks after the second session I was giving my dog a bath, leaning forward into the bathtub...suddenly a horrible pinched nerve hit me and affected me for months. This pain is in one of the exact injection sites....the severe pain subsided after 4 months but now, eight months later I am still in pain all day, every day! Could this be a needed injury? I am scheduling an appointment with my doctor this week but my hope has gotten slim. Sorry about this... I am usually very optimistic. Opinions or experiences are appreciated.

Thanks for another great review of treatment factors! Appreciate diving into diet, stress and other factors. I’ve been recommended for PRP after a traumatic twisting meniscus tear. Orthopedic doc recommended PRP since I’m a outdoor athlete. Great to hear about diet factors affecting the PRP harvesting. I’ll do some additional research and cut back on coffee and sugars before the blood draw.

I am a healthy person and I can say that PRP was awesome in the recovery of my mandíbula surgery. So good that I didn’t have to take antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, pain killers (just the first night)
That was only for me. Because I know how well my plasma is.

I had PRP lysate injections C4 - C7 in August 2018. MRI showed a bulging disc at C4-C5 and zero space for my spinal cord. I had numerous symptoms related to this including ghost rings, random muscle spasms, and random itching in the arms that could not be resolved by scratching. MRI 14 months later showed 1mm of space all around my spinal cord at the same site where there was none before. Symptoms got radically better, and the only time I have trouble now is when I ignore diet and rest.
It's not a panacea. I'm just a single data point. BUT, it made a huge difference in my quality of life. The other thing not mentioned in this video - the injection site needs to be carefully controlled. My doctor uses a fluoroscope to ensure the injection site is precisely where it needs to be and the platelets go where they will do the most good. My doctor also has strict advice on pre-op diet including avoiding supplements that can reduce the efficacy of the treatment.

Hi I twisted my thumb at work and had soft tissue damage at the side of the knuckle. 13 weeks later my thumb is still 20 % swollen compared to the other thumb and only bends half way and hurts when I stretch it. I think maybe it has now healed like this as I am seeing no improvement in the last few weeks. I went to physio and they said i dont need physio as i do have strength but I need to start to stretch my thumb down to help it bend more and that it may never be the same. I know someone who does this prp therapy. Do you think if I have that area injected it may help get rid of the scar tissue and maybe help my thumb get better ? Thanks in advance X

i dont think cartilage can be regenerated. if you have OA in the knee cartilage is most likely damaged and prp or lidocaine/dextrose will not help with cartilage regeneration. what prp/lidocaine/dextrose can help with replenish synovial fluid. This fluid helps lubricate the knee even with damaged cartilage. I know this because i have mild OA in my left knee and had lidocaine/dextrose injections which has help alot. I am looking into prp injections soon.

There's no mention of that in the research so I guess at this point it's not been tested yet. But one would kind of expect that if it can help arthritis in other joints it may be useful for the ankle. You'll find that these type of treatments are usually used experimentally on patients once studies in animals show that they may have benefit - the studies on humans usually only come later once clinicians have used them for a while.
