- Ahhh, the Black Templars. The successor chapter that is greater than the progenitor chapter. Anyway, we are going to be reviewing the very first action figure from JT of the Black Templars which is the highly anticipated Emperor's Champion. Let's hope this figure amounts to all the hype that is behind it! As usual, we will be using our painter's eye to scrutinize the painting on this figure and then we will move on to swapping out parts and other fun stuff.

When the plastic tray slid out of the box, i swear i seen the golden glorius light of the Emperor shine out for a second.

Look closely the left vent of your emperor's champion Rolantus black templars, there's 4 silver studs missing.
It is the only issue you have.
My 4 pack of the basic Templars should be showing up the BBTS soon and hopefully in a few weeks this one and the Marshal. Great review of an excellent figure. The Emperor protects.........

For hardcore WH fans it maybe unacceptable to swap weapons, but I want swap this sword to other marines so I bought. Because of your channel I’m finding this series more fascinating.
Unfortunately those "hardcore" fans can be rather toxic so I really wouldn't listen to them. This is supposed to be a fun hobby so you can do whatever the hell you want to do to with your figures for all I care because they are YOURS. The only problem would be playing the tabletop game using non-approved weapons which might be confusing to your opponents. But yeah, aside from that, do whatever you want
Ah, now I know what seems to be missing in your review. I came from gunpla building before collecting joytoy's action figure and on gunpla reviews they usually strike some cool iconic poses of the gundam during the review, like 3 or 4 poses. I know it will take more time but it will make a great addition to the viewers. Cheers!
Haha, I am rather unimaginative when it comes to posing action figures. After all, you have to realize that I come from a static background ie WH40K miniatures. I suppose I will try film more dynamic poses in later videos but no guarantees b/c well...I like my figure static
Finally!
Champion has a great contrast with the Crowe - a simple, yet emposing design, dynamic ribbons on a backpack (a Firstborn backpack by the way) and a cherry on top - the prayer beads. And that sword!

Got myself an Initiate Seumas with Mk7 red helmet with a wreath - now I have a Black Templar Sargeant. Still saving for one of the Grey Knights. Which one you'll recommend by the way?

You have an eye for detail Brother Sable. There is something elegant in simplicity and that's why the Emperor's Champion takes the cake for me.
Which GK to buy, it's tough for me to say. I am biased towards the standard bearer and the sergeant.
As for the Custodes, I'm still waiting for JT to get their act together and ship them to me lol

@@SpruesNStuds Hahah! But you know, you really know your stuff. And I got the sargeant. If not the packpack standard (I really like the sargeant's one and dislike the bearer's "impaled book"), I would get the standard bearer. Damn they're expensive!

I already have a Bladeguard Veteran, a Bike rider (Outriders Brother Valtus), the Crusader Squad of 4 and a Black Templars Redemptor Dreadnought.
I hope we will get a Chaplain in the future. And whatever more of Black Templars they release I will acquire with a vengeance.

I found that if you use the gun hand instead of the sword hand it let's him hold his sword up higher and straighter for his mini pose. I do think this the best joytoy I own, granted I only own two.

Castellan Crowe is pretty good, but I honestly didn't like as much as my BA veterans. The joins look a lot more like toy joints on him, and his armor is much less form fitting, again with the toy bits more clearly noticeable. I also found his pauldrons to be much looser. All of that without any appreciable increase in pose ability that I could notice, something his wrist bolter (I forget it's name) didn't help with. Another criticism for me is that only one of the flame's face has a side, and I didn't like the side it was on for the poses I wanted him to strike, but that's more subjective I think.
Enough about him though, I've looking forward to seeing reviews of these BT! Great to see yours.

@@SpruesNStuds yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to tear down your favorite, I just blabbed on without thinking.
A genuinely nice thing I can say about him is his gear is absolutely epic, even with the issues I mentioned, when he is still where I placed him (inside my PC) he looks heroic. I've got some of that gamer RGB in it and the way his silver reflects the color is hypnotic.
Again, sorry for that, and what I just said here is as genuine as my criticism.

kinda expensive. are mold lines and over paint normal for this kind of price range? That would annoy me in 32mm
Worthy of Sigismunds heir... Dont know about that. Im more into Space Marines that earn it by their own merit like how Sigismund does. Pure skill and hard work. Im not fond of getting a vision and giving them powers. To me someone like Dante, Titus, Marneus Calgar, Logan Grimnar, Ragnar Blackmane. And other chapter space marine Champions on how they are chosen. They may be far removed from Rogal Dorn. But they have a more earn your strips before the title of Badass of the Empire. As much as some of the emperors champions earn their strips after feats of defeating champions of the battlefield. I believe they are nothing like Sigismund in terms of working the grind to make it to where your at. Even High Marshal Helbrecht should have attained the title no matter the "Vision" of who the chosen one is... But thats just my opinion. Great figure non the less. If they ever make a Sigusmund figure. I would be on that like no tomorrow. He is my favorite Space Marine next to Dante.

That being said yes, I love this figure of the Emperor's Champion. It's my 2nd favorite one that JT has ever produced. Let's cross our fingers that JT will make a figure of Dante (I'm pretty sure they will)

You know how the secondary market goes...once something is out of print, they love to squeeze maximum profits from it

Well thankfully, Flyima/ JT is doing a re-release on this figure so you can buy it at MSRP now...the only reason why I know is that I picked up another one lol

you know the fact that these figures are an actuall 100/100 rendition of the minis is actually a bad thing.....that's why they fucked up the scales and the proportions so badly...
Haha very true. GW does not know what to do with the first born marines as well as the terminators. Although they finally re-tooled the termies for 10th edition.
