    Not to compare one against the other. I just love the sound of the vintage. Being that most of us have a few guitars in our collections. I could definitely see it worth picking one of these up.

    The Vintage sounded not bad but the Gibson took it for me. Just had a bit more cut to it, if you wanted to warm the sound you could easily roll off the tone knob a bit. Would be interesting to hear how they would be with the same pickups though.

    The vintage is a no brainer for us that gig on a regular basis. Excellent value vs playability and Tone . Gibson is the guitar for players that want Gibson as nothing else will stack up.
    The Gibson is not miles in front of the Vintage, it is only a very slight sound advantage and that is probably in the really nice pickups Gibson seem to produce consistently.
    Personally for me , I would buy a Vintage and throw a few hundred on wiring and nice PAF pickups and for less than £600 you have a fantastic sounding/ value guitar!!

      not that i disagree with what you said but i have there 335 copy and the man who owned the store and the million $ studio upstairs told me that in his homest opinon its not really worth the trouble and $ and that the guy who makes or designs vintages pickups was trained or taught by the man who created the p.a.f i still would like to hear what it sounds like with some nice high end pickups but i kinda believe what the owner of the shop said and his advice not to upgrade the pickups because i had a72 gibson walnut 335 on layaway and the POS sood it from under me without ever contacting me there called guitar wishes and they absolutely ruined my guitar wish i was afraid i was going to hurt someone or something so as the worker was trying to explain to me he couldnt find my slip and the fact the guy who reasured me they werent like a pawn shop and as long as i was making payments its no big deal we wouldnt sell your guitar out from you he stayed in the back and hid soon. as i walked in to make my final payment amd take her home i was crushed and it still stings me to this day f#*k guitar wishes in linconton nc i wouldnt have even got the vintage 335 copy had he not gave me half my money or more in store gift certificts i wanted my $ really i wanted my dream guitar that i finally found and for only 1700 atleast i got a 36 l-00 for 100$ and a 46 es-125 for 600 but nothing will ever make the hate in my heart for that man go away i hooe his buisness fails

    Love the look and sound of my v100 GT with p90s, only thing that trips me up is the finish, I just can't get past it sometimes. I think i'm gonna have my luthier sand down the neck for me next time I take it in for repair because I'm not stoked about poly finishes, just my two cents. That alone might make people spring for a Gibson over this, the fact that it doesn't have a nitro finish as so many other guitars in this price point don't.

    As you can see in my photo I own a 2011 Made in Vietnam V 100 I heard many comparisons something about the Vintage really captures that traditional Les Paul sound maybe its the Seth Lover inspired PAF's on the Wilkinson but when I had my guitar setup the tech said this after and being a Les Paul owner, I see why Gibson is pissed off lol, your guitar is a Les Paul but at a fraction of the price lol

    I came on here to listen to the Vintage as I’m looking to buy my first electric guitar,....been looking at Epiphones Cort etc too...and to my untrained ears it sounds great, especially for the money, but, that Gibson sounds so richer and mellow when played.....not sure if that’s the way to describe it, but I can hear the difference. Does it justify the cost difference, that’s up to the individual really.....me...I couldn’t justify spending on such a beauty. What is the best for a beginner when considering cost, reliability etc?

    • @admiralrng6506
      @admiralrng6506 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are right about the Gibson sounding mellow while Vintage, Epiphone and Cort sounding punchier
      it really all depends on the player if they want to spend that much on a Gibson, imho I couldn't justify getting a new one (at least before their quality changes around 2019-) but a used one? Now were talking
      I mean the Gibson sounds good, it really does but is it really worth a $1000 more? All depends on the player, but mind you that Gibson is probably gonna sound like mud to the tunings I do

      Of course! The GT is a P90 axe (W90 because they're Wilkinsons).
      I think you should own at least one of each.
      I have THREE with W90s (two TV Yellows and a Midge Ure) and bought a Tobacco Burst with gold hardware and humbuckers last weekend. I THINK that the latter is even better than my Epiphone LP Standard, which I hadn't with me when I bought the Vintage V100TB... so my ex-brother-in-law and I will be doing some shoot-outs in a couple of days, I guess. He has a Chinese Fazley, which is comparable with a Harley Benton, I guess. It was cheap and needed some work.
      I won't compare it to my Gibson, because that's a Standard DC, a totally different (sound-chambered) animal.

    I'm not a Gibson fan. Not even an LP fan. But the Gibson sounds slightly better (warmer sound). It's all a matter of taste though and with a cheap guitar there's always financial room to upgrade whereas the Gibson might be too much strain on the budget so I'd say take the cheap Vintage and upgrade when needed.

    The vintage is creamer, less harmonic. Less over tones coming through. At first listen I liked the Gibson. second listen I noticed staticy highs that were sort of annoying. The vintage is more bluesy and the Gibson is more rocky or metallic

      harlon57 in a blind test you won't hear the veneer top. I own one. The biggest difference between the two is that the V100 will actually stay in tune. I can vouch for this after playing several gigs with it. The only "budget" issue with the Vintage brand guitars is cheap pots. Once those were replaced it went from a great guitar to an outstanding guitar. Even the stock Wilkinson pickups turned out to be great once the old pots were replaced with high quality CTS pots.

    • @NotUrBiz
      @NotUrBiz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@imlostinthewoods I responded to collihill who wrote: "this is no budget guitar." Veneer tops? Yeah, that's budget. I made no claim about sound.
