#21: As a husband to a housewife/homemaker, my wife has talked about defending her “motherhood” to other moms, guess it never occurred to me how frequently the world sees housewife roles so negatively. We are believers, and knew this is what we wanted in a spouse. We both feel respected and are happy giving each other what we were made to give. Let the world judge as it wants, like a blind person judges a picture. Love can only be received as a gift, anything else is mindless.

There is nothing wrong with this dynamic. If this is for you, great. Women shouldn’t have to defend wanting to stay home I if that is what’s right for your family. As a woman who has been both the homemaker and the provider at different times, I have found criticism on both sides with women. I was criticized for staying home from some women and I was critiqued for going back to work from others. It definitely goes both way with women. But , unfortunately women live in a society that has built criticizing each other into an art form. Which is very, very sad. Especially when believers are involved as we are meant to support each other and not tear each other down.
100 percent it works boyh ways. Im not going to judge a couple IF happy living both working, splitting home responsibilities, etc. Why should I be judged bringing home the primary income when my wife takes care of our kids and home. Neither "side" should judge as long as each partner is happy and respected.

Maybe. I am the primary breadwinner and can support a nice lifestyle. That said, I appreciate that my wife has a career of her own and she has my complete support. It is a second career after children and I supported her going back for another degree followed by a masters. She doesn't need to work, I appreciate her having a purpose beyond taking care of the household. The extra income is nice too, takes some pressure off if I should lose my job or run into health issues.
What men should want from a woman is fun, good bedtime fun and a good mother. No man should expect a meal from their wife like it's their job. I don't care how hard he's working. His reward is hitting it in bed ( when the woman wants to but if a woman is being pleased by the man's efforts, she'll be more likely to let you hit it). He can make his own meal. I'll only cook when I want to cook for him.

In my household my wife does the majority of the cooking because that is how we agreed to divide up the responsibilities. I expect her to prepare dinner, because that is a commitment that she made. I prepare dinner when she needs help and I'm more than happy to do that. I manage the finances, share the cleaning chores, take care of my laundry (and she does her own), do all the outside work, cars, etc. and manage the projects on the house, most of them done myself. We both work more than 40 hours a week outside the home. While certainly "hitting it" is fun, I wouldn't consider it a reward as I don't think either of us should be rewarded for doing something we have committed to doing.
@@johnmininger7472 As long as your wife is only doing cooking and cleaning when she wants to, it sounds fine to me. Once she starts doing it because she "has" too, it becomes a problem. Like women who stressed out, are too tired, or just straight up don't feel like cooking or cleaning,but do it anyway is not the way to live. I don't really see any better reward than being about to "hit it" when you come home from work, other than rewards that you can get yourself ( as far as from women)
