This was the most fun I have had watching a video since I have watched arts and crafts videos, including my favorite which is cardmaking. It was like watching an art scientist. I will be looking for your other videos!💝

I have always been told to use distilled water whenever adding to paint, powders, etc. I guess that is what you probably achieve by boiling your water. Tap water would certainly go bad and cause lots of ruined products. I have tons of mica powders (got a bagfull at a yard sale) and about 10 or so pigment powders. Thanks for doing this video. I am going to have such fun playing! 😊

It was like looking at ink blots when u used the droppers. Lol Very informative video. Do u need to add a binder to the watercolors. I mix powdered gum arabic with mine to help it stick to the paper better or don’t I need to add that? The embossing powder was really cool. I have not seen mica used like that.

    • @JuliaMcNeillCrafts

TBH I have never used a binder and I get on ok just using water but there is no problem using a binder if you need too …. I may have to give that one a try x

Gum Arabic... makes the mica 'watercolors' permanent. 1 part G.A. powder to 3 parts mica powder.

Is soapy mica the same? Other words are there different type of micas? Can soapy mica be used for these techniques?

    • @JuliaMcNeillCrafts

Like all products there are differences in quality. You would be able to do all these techniques but you mind find a difference in opacity and depth of colour in a cheaper product xx

You can add a little pva glue to the water sprays, this stops it from rubbing off when dry, also it dries clear, so there's no interference with the sheen. Great video 👍

An absolutely great technique video, but every one I've watched shows mica powder in water?....NO ONE explains how to set it?
and I know for a fact it magically blows away after drying Argghhhh lol....
I understand that there are Mica powders under Brand names that are not Just Mica powder.
why does No one Explain how to set basic Mica Powder?
