    just finished my first pair of these and can't wait to turn them into earrings and take photos. It took a few tries for my brain to decide to follow the video, and then I had to make dinner for my family so I got lost again, but in the end these will be my favorite earrings to wear for sure! I am already thinking of how to add drops to them from my huge bead stash. I used Japanese seed beads which tend to be more precisely made than just regular seed beads for my first pair to "save" my delica beads for after I worked thru the design. Thank you!

    Excellent job with this video! Love these earrings. It's so much fun to be able to take a handful of delica beads and stitch something so lovely. I've been wanting to try the "peyote stitch look alike version", however, I say the heck with that, I'm going with your brick stitch design! Thanks, Gina, for sharing this fun project with us.

      Thank you so much, Sue! I started to make the peyote version at one point, and due to the peyote being doubled, they took longer than I was anticipating. I should probably finish them, though! LOL

    I saw a pair of earrings that are the Triquetra symbol (think from the show Charmed), they seem similarly done to l this style. I would love to see a tutorial if you know how to make them

  • @suem.3651
    @suem.3651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gina , I love theses and you made them seem easy. But I keep getting gaps between the gold beads. How do you seat each row so evenly? I am using rounds. What could I be doing wrong that the row end rides high? I’m pulling tight? Also, how are you twirling your thread after each stitch to keep control of tension? Thanks!

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sue, if you are using seed beads as opposed to delica beads, you will get gaps. I also hold the beads and pull the thread tight after each row so the delica beads sit together perfectly like little bricks. Hope that helps! 💜💜💜

    Hi Gina so I was very excited to see this video since I am fairly new to beading. So I was in the middle of doing it and then as I was going threw one of the middle beads two of my beads broke I wanted to cry . Is there anyway to repair it with out starting over? Help please.

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! That's the worst when it happens. It can be really tricky to fix this situation. What you can try to do is remove all the cracked material, then sew in the new beads in those spots. Also continue weaving through beads before and after, as much as possible. Then, trim the old threads from the cracked section, so the new beads settle properly. Next, continue weaving through the beads. You would need to ensure that you reinforce everything enough, though, and that's not always possible, or easy to do. I feel your pain!! 💜😁

  • @StitchesbySharonH
    @StitchesbySharonH 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is so cool and the earrings are so pretty! I do have a question. Is there ever a time when you could go through the bead underneath the one you put on? I’m not sure how to explain it but every once in a while, while watching you, my instinct was that when you added a bead (I think it was only when you added the gold beads) was to go down through the bead underneath to “lock it in place,” but you didn’t. I’m not sure why I thought it though... I guess I’m asking to figure out if I’ve seen it (or maybe did it) that way somewhere or if I’m thinking of a different stitch? It just had me confused, but hopefully you’ll be able to figure out why! Thank you for sharing this fun pattern with us! 💜

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sharon! You can go through the bead underneath when completing a row that is longer than the one underneath it. Also, if you need to travel through the bead underneath to get to another point in the row (if that makes sense lol). With brick stitch, it's more about locking into place on top of the thread bridges, so the beads stack in a staggered manner. Hope that helps! You always have great questions. 💜

    How you add thread in it? thank you

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Evi! I just weave in the remaining thread until it is secure. Add a new piece of thread on my needle, and pick up where I left off. Then pop a needle onto the tail thread and weave it into the beads to hide it. Hope that makes sense! 💜💜💜
