The animations used to be much smoother and detailed, but as valve has been updating the source engine it's been breaking the animations and graphics. It's why The Ambassador revolver doesn't appear to actually load rounds into the gun. It used to, but it doesn't anymore.
Nah, the Ambassador's animations never included bullets getting loaded in the first place. Yes, the Ambassador's reload animation has been changed. The old animation (where the barrel of the gun moved to cover your crosshair) also moved the bottom of the cylinder to be below the viewport, meaning that it was impossible to see that no bullets were getting loaded. It's just that the updated reload, which now doesn't cover your vision, also doesn't hide the fact that the Ambassador's reload never put bullets in. Only the stock revolver + enforcer ever had animations that involved bullets actually getting put into the cylinders.
It's not because of Source updates. It broke because they changed the whole viewmodel system to a c_model system, away from the v_model system. It's better, because it makes the hands and their animations into one model, rather than them being duplicated in every viewmodel. So there's just one hand model with all the weapon handling animations, and then the weapon model itself is just bonemerged with it, and it works. The trouble is: They also began using one weapon model for both first-person and third-person. Previously, there was a worldmodel (or w_model), and a viewmodel (v_model). But now, there's just one c_model. So they had to remove the subtler details since they'd be unnecessary for third-person. It's entirely fixable -- it's just not worth their time.
@@randomcatdude Yeah that's probably a better technical way of putting it. I don't have extensive knowledge on TF2 or the Source engine, all I really know is the game used to look much more detailed and smooth and Valve's updates to the Source engine has been breaking things. @@targetshades2320 I wouldn't really say so. I think it's more that nobody at Valve really wants to work on TF2 anymore. The game is mostly still working on its own, after all.
TF2 still has a massive playerbase but it seems Valve just desperately wants to move on from it.
@@targetshades2320 I wouldn't really say so. I think it's more that nobody at Valve really wants to work on TF2 anymore. The game is mostly still working on its own, after all.
