Reminds me of a prank a friend pulled on me a couple years ago. Me, him and a couple other friends were hanging out at his place when he asked me if he could look at my phone, a cheap ZTE. I gave it to him and looked away to continue my conversation.
Seconds later he said "Hey guys look" as he pointed at "my" phone on the floor and smashed the screen with a hammer. I flew up and yelled "WHAT THE FUCK!?", but he proceeded to pull out my actual phone out of his pocket and gave it back to me.
Turns out he had the same phone and a day before it had fell out of his pocket as he got out of his car and closed the door. The phone managed to jam between the door and the car and got pretty fucked up. That's the phone he smashed with a hammer and not mine lmao

Watching this makes me want to touch and handle my switch as gently as possible even if it's super durable.
A year and a half later and still barely any scratches even without a screen protector. It's definitely durable if you're careful enough.

The switch is definitely nintendos cash cow at the moment, and nintendo is unlikely to release a successor when it's still doing this well. There will be more versions like the old and rumored pro to keep up with other consoles, but as of now, Nintendo would be hard pressed to just let the switch go.

This is a tech destruction video I'm actually ok with. Unlike others that destroy it for the sake of destroying it, this one actually gave insight on what the console can handle, and what it's made of (literally).

Morally I would argue that it is not justifiable to destroy limited resources only for personal entertainment, even if you pay for them.
Think about say Bill Gates buying as much food as he can afford and destroying it, he would be morally wrong as that food is not created out of thin air, it is a limited "resource". Fiat currency as it's called is what it's commonly used by all major countries, it doesn't have an intrinsic value as gold, it has a representative value, if there is no food, all the money in the world cannot create food.

What a waste of a Switch... let me think, taking a box cutter to an intricate piece of electronic equipment - - what the heck did he think the outcome would be? A better test would have been to drop the unit on concrete and see how the unit would fare then; that is a more likely scenario especially with kids running on the playground etc.
He demonstrated the durability of the unit so people can feel at ease using it and/or take proper precautions before letting others use it (especially children.)
So he didn't just scratch the screen, for example. He was using a hardness scale to indicate the level of durability. Many who would've forgone a screen protector, assuming the surface was glass, will now utilize one - I know I will.
He does all this so we don't have to wonder and worry through gradual, daily use.
So what you think is a waste is potentially going to protect and save many Switches. This one didn't suffer in vain.
