Watched a diver yesterday who was at an Aldi's & an employee came out and he asked if he minded if he took a few things out. He was told "No I'll just turn my back". That was so cool.

I had an Aldi's employee actually bring stuff out to me once. A week later, the manager ran me off. I still shop at the store. I think the manager recognizes me, but doesn't say anything!

I’m astounded by the quality of food that they discard , why can’t they pass it on to elderly or homeless charities it seems ridiculous but glad you and frugal daddy got it ❤️❤️
We were caught by the manager there once and she told me they donate and that anything in the dumpster is inedible. In fact, I think she is the same one who caught us when we took the NPR producer diving with us. I do not believe that that particular ALDI donates anything at all. But probably it is up to the food pantries to contact the store to say, hey, can we pick up your stuff," because the manpower for transportation is probably an issue. Or it could be a tax savings issue - a bigger write off for damaged merchandise than for making a charitable contribution.

We have a food pantry that goes to Walmart EVERY day and picks up the unsellable produce and has it available to anyone who wants it for FREE.💕

Everything, Pork, beef, chicken, even shrimp. We made blueberry jam the other day and canned them. I found an egg poacher and a bunch of storage containers. Even a cute doggy outfit. Tons of stuff. The thrill is in the hunt. I'm hooked.
My mom is so proud. (not) She's in your mom's league but much worse. eek.
FM....You can get a glass cover for your phone at Walmart or a phone store for about 6.00 and it is so worth it. They save your screen from being broken.

I saved so many bell peppers my guinea pigs were tired of them lol I washed them all in a a 5 gallon bucket from lowes and still had extra in mixing bowls. Also found 5 carts of eggs 🥰
That was amazing I went the other night and I need potatoes I said oh I hope I find potatoes and I opened the door and there they were sitting on top 3 bags I was jumping up and down and found 30.00 worth of hamburger and some other stuff. It was the highlight of my day😄😀

Btw, peppers freeze very well without needing to blanch. Or - to save freezer space - roast & peel them first.
between 185.00 to 200. worth of food. They make me sick that they can't give to homeless shelter. Now that I look at it lay out it's over 200.00

Mostly behind gates where the public have no access 😢👎🏻 My son and I would go hard out too if we could.
How strange, given that NZ's gov makes all the right noises about sOciaL jUStice. Then again, not a surprise at all.
It's same in UK everything locked beside 6ft gate and there locked bins so no one get anything but they do donate to local food banks near were l live but its all food from the shop not stuff for bins
@@catherinebarlow3079 All my local supermarkets here in England donate excess to homeless shelter (for fresh foods like prepacked sandwiches) or foodbanks, run buy one donate one offers, and reduce most food down to very little before taking it off sale. One of them also makes up big boxes of produce and sells them for £1.50 a pop. I regularly can fill my freezer with bread and meat that is reduced down to a 1/4 of the price. So there's little need for DD. Most stuff put in them is packaging, in the recycling bin. In France they have a law down against supermarket food waste. It really seems the US leads the way in putting perfectly good food straight in the dumpster rather than donating or offering it to customers for a bargain price.
