I never knew about this absolutely amazing, I still cannot comprehend that Ayrton Senna, the greatest racer of all time, he raced at Mondello Park literally just down the road from where I live, this is absolutely mind blowing

This was live on RTE. Remember it well. Commentators were in awe of Senna.
Even at this early a stage commentators are already talking about "the brilliant Brazilian", and what the other drivers must do to beat "da Silva". Little did they know just what a significant impact Senna would have on the sport in the upcoming years...

Thank you for this video. I thought I had seen it all until this came up. How refreshing to see "da Silva" on the screen. Absolutely brutal dominance by Ayrton. Most likely the best driver to have walked the earth.
This is the last race of EFDA FF2000 1982 season, on September, 12th 1982. Ayrton had won the championship in the previous race, held at Jyllandsring on August 22th. After taking the lead, Ayrton opens a fantastic gap (about 1 sec per lap !), though the cars registered for EFDA used different tyre specs compared to the Irish FF. He looks quite happy and relaxed in the celebration lap. Right after this victory, Ayrton went to Kalmar, Sweden, trying to win the Kart world championship, in his fifth and last attempt.

If this is true then surely he was 22 not 21 as the video commentator and this article states. 22 years 5 months+.

Yeah Ayrton Senna or as known as Ayrton Da Silva was same age as me when I did this. I only found out a few years later that he raced at Mondello Park. I know mine was on a computer game but it was spooky and I drove a car that he would have been driving in a couple of years. I did something I think no one could have done and did an Ayrton Senna esque lap to get pole although I don't have onboard.

Wonderful to see and discover this on the remembrance day of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton (Senna) Da Silva leaving us in that horrendous weekend. Senna's philosophy and way of thinking still inspires on many occasions.

In pochi sanno cosa è stato capace di fare Senna da Silva prima della F1... Perché così si chiamava.... La formula Ford 1600 e 2000 l'ha letteralmente dominata... E pure record su record in f3.... E Macau.... Il pilota si deve guardare da come ha costruito la carriera dall'inizio. E in questo Ayrton è stato un maestro.

The old track at Mondello park definitely wouldn't pass modern standards today to qualify for FIA international events. In late 90s, an extended "international" double loop was added to allow to hold British Touring Car Championship races. Also increased the amount of passing opportunities which the old circuit lacked - Joey Grenans pass on Senna in this race at the 'Badgers Hole' was looked upon as a rare event by regular Mondello attendees as years went by

Da Silva is his dad last name. Senna is his mothers. He decided to go with Senna,Shorter.later on. So it was Ayrton Senna Da Silva his full name.

I read in a book that a driver named Chico Serra, who was also a friend, told Ayrton that with this "da Silva" surname he would never become an F1 champion. Senna followed his suggestion shortly afterwards.
