@@MecgAutoTech it was probably showed at a fair or something and it had a boss in the early proto before it’s initial release so that’s what he could’ve meant
Music aside, which is awesome of course, the Lava Reef boss is the perfect one to showcase the theme, it makes that fight feel truly epic. From the flash of the Death Egg's eyes to Robotnik launching missiles and your descent to the lava floor, it feels like a last gasp effort by Robotnik to stop you from ruining the launch of the Death Egg. It's one of my favourite Sonic 3 bosses (OK, technically Sonic and Knuckles or Sonic 3 and Knuckles but let's be honest, it's all really Sonic 3). My other favourites are Marble Garden because you have Tails flying you into the sky to battle your nemesis, Mushroom Hill because it's a running fight, something we didn't see much of in the 16 bit games, and Doomsday Zone because it's the epic ending of the story. As you can probably tell, my favourite fights in the game aren't about difficulty, they're picked based on character and story. The full version of Sonic 3 was and remains my favourite game ever. It's the perfect iteration of 2D Sonic games and tells an epic story. What more could any hedgehog want?
Agreed! Even though Lava Reef's boss is kinda boring gameplay-wise after the chase sequence at the beginning, it's tied with Doomsday Zone for my personal favorite because I see it as a "this is where things get real" turning point in the plot. This man has become so desperate, he's started firing rockets at Sonic in a last ditch effort to stop him as you said, and then even after the battle is over, there are no more "normal" levels, everything from that point on is rising action
@@BansheePlant Sure, I'm usually in Hyper Sonic mode by the time I reach that boss and even without that, the entire encounter is all about getting your jumps right and that's it so it's not technically the hardest boss in terms of gameplay but narratively it's pretty epic. Sonic 3 & Knuckles as a whole feels like Sonic Team basically just threw everything they'd learned from the previous games into one final epic adventure and it shows. You had Sonic 1 of course and then the split with Sonic 2 taking the momentum gameplay and running with it while Sonic CD took the exploration and platforming and rolled with that. Sonic 3K (as I call it) is the game that brought those two elements back together into the complete 2D Sonic package, emphasising the perfected forward momentum of Sonic 2 while encouraging platforming and exploration showcased in CD but without feeling like a maze. I remember the first time I got to Doomsday Zone it was on Sonic & Knuckles as I didn't own Sonic 3 (my cousin owned S3 and we eventually shared so we could play Sonic 3 as intended) and it really felt like a proper epic conclusion to what's essentially a trilogy. I like Sonic Mania well enough, it's a proper love letter to 2D Sonic but let's be honest, the story is pretty nonsensical lol Sonic 3K is the ultimate 2D Sonic experience and I'll spin dash anyone who says otherwise.
Well, it's kinda complicated, and very unconventional... I actually don't recreate the tracks, but rather record them to .vgms with Kega Fusion, use a foobar2000 plugin to separate the music into each of its individual sound channels and export them to regular .mp3s, then just open those all up in Audacity and mess around with them (doing things like adding a bit of reverb) to try making things sound better. As for the drums, other people have managed to find those samples in their original quality somehow, so I simply replace the compressed drums with the high quality ones
My childhood
Amazing, love this when the 1st time i heard it back in 1993. Brings tears to the eyes.

Choose the two best bosses in the game for footage (Which are also from the two best zones in the game in my opinion)
Great Job dude!👍👍

It was really amazing, my favorite soundtrack ❤️❤️❤️
Not a bad effort. Personally the best boss theme of the 2D era imo. Made this exact theme in FL Studio on my channel!
Funny that i found this when i was thinking of doing a recreation of this track
It's all fun and games until the recommended page starts reading minds
Pretty solid
Wow!!!
This is good.

DAC is very loud!

Sounds sick
Your recreation sounds better than the original. Awesome job!
This is the original 💀
Not sure what to think of the drums, but it's not bad.
Thank you
I've always tried keeping the Bubble Shield on this level and I'm not sure why, lol.
The drums are a bit off but still sounds great
Thanks!

That's used in Sonic 3 A.I.R
Nope, I made it myself, which was mentioned in the description. Listen to the two side by side, they're different
Sadly pingas don't laugh at all in the main game.

It came out in 1994 not 1993

So, what is different with this from the original?
@APC! if something is remastered, then it is different. if it is uncompressed, it is different.
