What amazes me is not only did he come up with voices for these characters, but he gave all of them two or three solid and distinctly different voices each. Like damn, that is serious talent.
This is the best one I’ve seen. He has more variety in his tone. They all sound different. All the other ones I can hear the person’s real voice somewhere in the voiceover that helps me pinpoint who the person is. This guy is on another level.
Voice acting seems like a very open-ended profession and I'm noticing that so many of these actors have such a great understanding of the background context of each character they come across. It's a perfect cross between real-world exposure and sheer imagination
they basically have so much reference material already. they know all the tropes and story lines and how the directors introduce them to their characters motivations and so on. most of them could already direct themselfes.
This guy is card-carrying master. Very few voice-actors actually have his level of prestige. He’s up there with Mel Blanc, John DiMaggio, and Billy West as far as I’m concerned.
Very same ethic as Robin Williams for his creations. Or why Andy Serkis wanted to be in motion cap suit for LoTR as well! These actors are supremely talented :)
Whats interesting is how he develops stories around the image. Its easy to imagine cartoons he's worked on, stories were changed just cause of his delivery
@@elevatedaspirations He was Marv, the scene in the car after the apartment scene in the beginning. He's the guy Vincent Vega accidentally shoots in the face and they have to clean the car afterwards with the help of Winston Wolfe.
@ The way you phrase it makes it sound like they removed Marvin's death, which obviously didn't happen, so I assume you're saying there was a close-up of his caved-in face that got edited out? That's a classic.
There has been a serious amount of talent in these voice actor improv series, but Phil stood out as especially impressive here. He executed such a spread of voices, and he was so intuitive and thoughtful in how he brought the characters to life. That was exceptional.
He and I were at Yale at the same time. It's safe to say that none of us (and probably including Phil) knew how good he'd get as an actor. Voice Acting is the one type of acting where how you look is immaterial to the character you can play. And that gives guys like Phil with incredible range an opportunity to do amazing things we wouldn't have gotten considered for in a face role.
I am so inspired by this man's commitment to any role! I mean, just allowing yourself to be so weird is impressive enough. There are voice-actors/actresses that won't do certain roles because they feel the role would be too embarrassing. True props to you Mr. LaMarr.
I had no idea the range Phil had! He somehow gave each character 2 voices, and essentially never repeated a single tone, inflection, or characterization. Did he just become one of my favourite voice actors!??
I love how I viewed the yeti picture and thought the yeti was calm, relaxed and gentle. The voice reflected that, yet once he shifted to a sinister, villainous voice, I immediately felt that energy, disregarding my previous assessment.
Compare this to Patrick Warburton. Patrick is a fine voice actor, but Phil is god tier. His range and ability to perceive the personality elements of the characters is so mind-blowing.
I never knew you voiced so many different character of my favourite shows. Its weird to think you've kinda been with my life for like 12+ years in the background with me not noticing you.
He came up on my radar first through MGS2 and my issue always was seeing him in some credits in other things and being like "wat???" because he always sounds so different. 😂 Like compared to Paul Eiding or someone who's basically just the one voice all the time. 😂
That guy has some sick range, very impressive.
Yeah
Amazing how much he offered per Foto, right?!
Yeah I typically can pick out Phil LaMarr easily but some of these are really outside his typical roles
Honestly
Its Cyborg. Booya!
His karate black kid sounds like a mixture of young Michael Jackson and static shock
Kingdom of the champion he is static shock lmao
@@gr8xman7 i know that
Phil LaMarr has played Michael Jackson on Mad TV

And has been for 30 years.
His is far beyond the level of a professional, this is mastery of an art.
100% agree. This man has voiced so many amazing and memorable characters
Factssss
This is exactly why I love voice actors. He doesn't just do the voice, he turns into the character.
I bet he tells the best bedtime stories, everytime he reads a book it turns into a movie
Your here
Right?! I'm low key jealous.
He’d make a great voice actor for an audio book
I MUST SAY ID NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TO SEE YOU ON THIS RANDOM VIDEO
**2 hours later** "Holy $#!* dad! I just asked for a glass of water!"
Plot twist: He’s the ONLY voice actor.
He’s all of them.
I want a show where he's the only voice actor for every character
this is sick, all of these characters are immediately believable and lovable
The egg has spoken
I'm mesmerized by how his face changes with every voice, extremely cool to watch.
I don't think people realize how much talent that takes.
As I watch him I try to understand what's going through his mind. Especially looking at him do the nerd character.
Really? I look at that with absolute wonder because I can’t even imitate my sister. Plus the creativity involved in creating new voices
Let alone how talented he was on mad tv
Yabro foshizzlez
This is massive talent. 1:24
seriously underrated, the range of his voice is incredible.
"I ain't never actually done karate...or spelt it but..I LOVE IT MAN"😂
Cayden Marino 😂😂😂
Phil LaMarr could dub over every japanese anime by himself and still have only used 10% of his brain
I would love to see that.
To be fair, that’s all we use lol! But yeah would def love to see/hear that!
Perfect description
Only problem being that he and other really talented American cartoon actors never do anime.
Plot twist; his “real” voice is also an act and he has never revealed his real voice before
His real voice is really smooth. I'm thinking he consciously alters it to be better, like a singer does.

James Arnold Taylor as well
charles martinet?
Tom kenny!
what about Matt Mercer and friends??
Yep
His real voice is so soothing. He can make a grocery list sound beautiful.
So interesting how he'll physically adopt the traits of characters like the monster at 2:50 to affect the voice that he chooses.
Or the owl around 4:00! So true
Very same ethic as Robin Williams for his creations. Or why Andy Serkis wanted to be in motion cap suit for LoTR as well! These actors are supremely talented :)
Kind of like visual artists changing faces to draw up expressions
Is that that unusual for a voice actor, or an actor in general?
The quality of his voice acting is just insane

Phil LaMarr is a treasure most people don't know they have.
Phil is one of the sweetest people in person. He's such a wonderful voice actor, I absolutely adore him.

I've always thought that Phil LaMarr is grossly underappreciated, he is fantastic.

When it came to the 40s spy guy, his natural voice seemed like a perfect fit.
A legend! He voiced Static from Static Shock! ❤️
I loved the episode where Static met his hero the Green Lantern John Stewart, so it was mostly Phil LaMarr talking to himself.
The mad man I think he was the voice of Medabee on Medabots too
you just put a shock to my system.
I knew it! As soon as he did the voice for that karate kid I was like "Static?!"
That's why that voice he did with the karate kid sounded so familiar
I would watch every episode of a Forge Goreman show
