I love how the “evil jack” aims for the shoulders which is a non-lethal way to end a fight but the “good jack” aims for the head immediately
It can also be a sign of Mad Jack trying to prolong his opponent's suffering. By not going for a lethal strike, his opponent suffers for longer.
Well you could go for the head, but the arms are kinda not going to let you cut off the head.

FullTimeSlacker but who beat the guardian is the real question? The guardian decimated Jack, made no sense tho he was guarding the portal for Jack to use sometime in the future but never did get to because he lost and presumably died to the attacker so Jack never got to use it which kinda seemed stupid he could've just let Jack through knowing he was the on to save them from Aku but instead he just sent him away.

He might be an amazing warrior, but Aku probably found a way to eventually locate the portal and basically commanded an army of robots that overwhelmed the Guardian. When the Guardian was most likely distracted by fighting the army of robots, Aku probably found a moment of opportunity and destroyed the portal and the Guardian was eventually overwhelmed and killed. That’s literally the only way I could see that event going down.
@@spenserfarman3045 the gaurdian isn't a god/deity that can harm aku, nor does he have a weapon made to kill him like jack has.
So aku shouldn't have any problems beating him.
Besides, there doesn't seem to be corpses of akus army.
@@eternallegacy89 Point of the ending of that episode is to show that Jack NEEDS to be in the future a bit longer, (so he can become even stronger I suppose) and THEN when he is at the point he is shown within the portal, he is ready to go back and successfully defeat Aku.
Him going back to the past in that very moment maybe may have resulted in a failed attempt to kill Aku.
If an evil man in Goku's body is Goku Black... does that make Jack's evil persona... Jack Black?

What I always liked in this fight is how, the longer the fight goes on, the less difference there is between Jack and Mad Jack. Both in how they look and in how they act, eventually culminating in the moment where Jack sees his own reflection in his sword, only to realise that in that moment, he is no different from Mad Jack.

In the end you cant tell who's who, because Dark Jack was just a reflection of what was already there.
Faced with what evil you are, not what might be. The more you engage it, the more you embody it.
I like that they brought him back for the final season as someone he could actively talk to.
Jack is that spiritually self aware.
And Jack said that Mad Jack is his inner demon and thus, he do not exist!
I think we can pretty much universally agree that the aesop of this episode is that you can't defeat your inner darkness with more darkness. Only through acceptance, serenity and patience. Basically this episode is telling us to not hate ourselves for our flaws, but to try and love ourselves in spite of them. Not that we may not be bothered by said flaws, but that we may approach them with the right mindset to fix them.

Well, in this case I think both are justified.
Aku created Mad Jack from Jack's anger and hate, which was/is one of his few major flaws. Obviously in this episode, it showcases his anger getting the better of him during the first part of the episode to really show that off, but it's present throughout the series. If you watch the earlier episodes, you can see that, when he is fighting or being blocked in his quest, he often gets frustrated which often turns to anger. After this episode, he is a lot calmer in his fights. He doesn't NEVER get angry, but it happens much less and is more controlled.
As for the black and red color scheme, Aku is very vain.

Honestly it gives me anxiety and fear. I love it, I keep coming back for this, its one of the most blood curdling things in fiction for me to see Jack, a man so in control cry out in pure bloodlust.

In season 5, it was hinted that jack had lost his sword for 50 years. So he had to defend himself for five decades. In addition to the fact that he was more brutal in that season. He wouldn't play around not one bit.

One of my favorite parts of this show is that Aku is basically just making Jack stronger every time he tries to kill him. Not even just physically, but psychologically. I like to think this fight was in Jack's mind when he was fighting the Sah-moo-rai.
Hardly he had to deal with this guy again.

They're the same thing though. This is just a physical manifestation of his inner demons.
Ren Cen the inner/past Jack in season 5 was Mad Jack, he looked different because he was no longer possessing a physical like he did in season 1.
Not to mention, Jack had a cavalcade of other negative emotions swirling around inside his mind. The Jack he first saw when he was trying to avoid the daughters and saw the Green Samurai was him trying to survive while also considering just letting himself die and end it all. The second Jack hallucination was his guilt for bringing harm to/murdering another living creature coupled with his fear and anxiety knowing that he’ll have to kill again. The hallucination Jack saw when he and Ashi were inside of that giant monster was his irritation at her for being a hindrance and contemplating just letting her die or leave her somewhere she couldn’t escape. Finally, Mad Jack at the end is where Jack’s unhinged anger and frustration comes to the surface because he’s basically tired of having to go through so much rigmarole to try getting his sword back.
The woke trash that was season 5 never happened. Samurai Jack still hasn't started again after season 4.

This show is so deep.This whole scene captures the fight within someone. Their fight within between the pure side and the dark side. The sparks flying from their sword creating collateral damage by burning down the forest. Maybe it also resemble the collateral damage cause by someone's fight between their angels and demons. I just think the writers had a really strong and deep message they tried to show through their show.

Exactly man, I am watching it after 15 years or something. In childhood it was just a cartoon for us, but now I understand how deep this show is. Just 8 episodes in and there is so much zen and cultural references in this show.

There is a theory that Samurai Jack and Powerpuff Girls share the same universe. More specifically, that Jack is one of Professor Utonium's ancestors and that Chemical X was made from Aku's remains.

it's also interesting how both of their state of mind reversed, OG Jack started fighting more aggressively while Evil Jack started to calm down, in the end they reached the same state of mind balancing out and just going at each other like a dance
So this is what "Hate" Jack looked like before season 5.
I love how they muted the colors towards the end so you could barely tell which one was who. I think this was symbolically meant to say that Jack could have easily been consumed by hatred and become just like his evil counterpart. A bit of foreshadowing of the final season, if you think about it.

Aku is one of my top 1 villains he doesn't appeal to psychology and idealisms he's just evil and REALLY powerful, he slowly conquers everything in his way but the show made it clear that hid weakness is that sword and make sure nothing else will stop aku and aku's got a lot of tricks like this one, and impersonating a good person to make jack lead aku to one of the portals just to betray him.
And it's funny because aku can't show himself to do the job because he knows jack will beat his shit up
