The fact that he was both really surprised me too. He is one of the modern voice actors that can really portray a wide variety of characters in his mannerisms and voice. Makes me want to be a voice actor even more, knowing that having that ability makes you so much better than most of the people working in the industry. Tom Keeny rocks, is what I'm saying.
I had the absolute pleasure of casting Tom Kenny in my pilot a few years back. He came to the studio and worked out the voice of his character on the spot. It was so amazing watching him try different things. I didn't feel worthy when I had to direct him. The man was so kind and professional.
The moment i heard it I was like wow That's a cool Pixar plot of how emotional movies are dying out and only blockbusters are being made and then some quirky screenwriter tries his best to get his sad romantic movie made, and it has the classic Pixar sad moments cause of how everyone is no longer in touch with their emotions until his movie finally does, E. T. C In the end they find out the movie was about his wife who is now dead or something along those lines
The way he can instantly identify with a random drawing and attach a voice to it along with good jokes and a sprinkle of commentary is basically uncanny
