love it! rustic and simple. reminds me of the little 2 stall barn my father built when I was a kid. Horses don't need anything fancy to be happy and healthy. You and your horses are very lucky to have such a nice life there.

Man I wish so badly I had a horse but instead I got a lamb and kid so I’m super happy with those because it’s better then nothing and I can’t wait until their older because then I’m going to teach them to pull a cart😁😁

How often do they stay in the barn, because some people like to do that as a routine or for rain. ETC. Is it good to keep them in the barn over night during the winter time. I'm just curious because all horses are different and when you buy one, it could either be used to it or nit. So that's why you take your time to get it used to being in the stall, but I'm just wondering about that!! Thanks. I love how simple it is. I'm all about tiny houses and simplifying for the costs. I plan on paying it off one day, tiny home plus 4 stable barn with the field for all the animals to roam free in, together the better. That rhymes. Thanks!!
I love tiny houses too! My horses go in their stalls at night for two reasons. First, they are ponies and prone to being over weight. They only need to be on grass for 12 hours at a time or they risk foundering. Second, I stall them at night for safety. Believe it or not because I live in the country I have had issues with feral dogs and coyotes attacking my animals. They go up at night in the barn so I know they are protected. Also, in the winter I'll put them up if it's raining so they don't get wet/cold. I don't worry too much about rain in the summer. Hope that answers your question!

I am beginning my research into getting a mini. I have two outbuildings approximately 14 feet by 12 feet. Would that be adequate for a mini for use as a stall? The only thing I know of horses is from Walter Farley, watching events at Spruce Meadows, and trail rides so I need to do a lot of research before getting one so that I can be a responsible owner. What are the major differences in daily care from a dog? Eg the food and grooming routine would be different but what else?
Patti Hanson late to reply but it sounds like you havent had a horse before (sorry if you do im just assuming) id recommend two minis as they are company animals and even if you have larger horses i would still get two because larger horses run the risk of seriously hurting minis etc. as for the stall, if you wouldnt put a full sized horse in there, its definitely to small but ponies can still get away with slightly smaller than horses.
minis require a lot more care than dogs. you have to clean stalls and poo pick fields, plus feeding, grooming and extra time exercising with whatever you want to do, although technically you could still walk them as though they are a dog, but expect people to look at you when doing so. :)
last thing, ponies can generally be a lot easier keepers than larger companions. if you are going to get a shetland or whatever breed it may be keep in mind they dont need anywhere near as much grass as what a large horse would, and if you do let the, get too much they could go lame with laminitis.
