Very interesting episode, thanks guys. Wishing all aboard Noeta a happy, safe and joyful Christmas, fair winds, from the Tasmanian branch of the Gilligan appreciation society.🙃
Merry Christmas back at ya from the Noeta crew! 🎄(Well, Gilligan is asleep, like always, so he didn’t say anything)

My question here is: What do you do for a living?
Just found you. Wonderful video. Stephen and Ingrid on M/V Sam McGee
Welcome aboard! Glad to meet you! 😊
Just found ya. You guys are beautiful. Happy to check out the channel.
Welcome aboard! We are so glad you're here. 😊
I realize mine is not marine, but I have a diesel engine on a ag boost pump with 27,500 hours that I just put injectors and an injector pump in. Runs like a champ again. no smoke....
That's awesome! Glad to hear you got it running strong again. They really are made to run. We have no fears about our engine hours.
Good video 😊 how does the heat in the engine room effect operation of engine and what can you do to lower the heat maybe more engine room exhaust fans that temperature seemed high 🤔 safe travels 😊
We definitely want to install a few more fans. But we also opened the lazarette hatch and the engine room door, which opens directly outside.
could you tell us the ratio of the price vs. the upgrades/fixes? Also, would you have (also historically) the ration of yearly updates/fixes vs. the value of the boat? I know that for sailing boats the consensus is around 10% yearly...
That’s such a tough question. It’s been different with all of our boats. With our 50 foot, 10% was about right, including fuel, moorage, and boat projects. With the 57, we have front loaded all of the big projects into the first 2 months of ownership, so we will be well over 10% this year, but (hopefully) future years will be less.
And of course how often a boat spends in a marina vs cruising makes a big difference.
But I’d say the 10% rule is a good start- with a lot of variables. Cheers!
What weather service did you used throughout the entire trip?
We used Bob with OMNI. www.oceanmarinenav.com/ He was great!
@ Thank you so much. I must to missed you in Ensenada. We now keep our 60 Hatteras at Coral. We are familiar with La Cruz Marina and the Banderas Bay area. Enjoy it. We are planning to perhaps go north next year.
@@JoseSuarez-cb8wk Bummed we missed you! Happy Cruising!
Thank you for sharing.... Would it be possible to obtain parts needed from other vendors "not marine graded" that is actually the same? produced to the same standards? I've seen parts for cars, let's say a Mercedes, made by Opel or Ford - THE SAME PART - that you could get for half the price now that it isn't branded "Mercedes".... I know in Aviation that is a big "No-go" - but Marine? I mean you don't dive out of the water if a part fails, as could be the case in Aviation..... Merry Christmas to both - sorry - the three of you..
Hey there - Sometimes there are proprietary items (John Deere, Lugger etc) so we have to go with name brands. And we've found that with marine products, you get what you pay for. When we've tried to not go 'marine', the quality just isn't there and the items don't last in harsh salt water/marine environments. You really need quality stainless and wiring. We haven' t found any yet, that weren't 'marine', but if anyone has, we're all ears!! Merry Christmas back at ya! Cheers! (Gilligan is asleep and so not commenting at the moment)
I was hoping you would share your repairs cost so we wouldn’t feel so insane….
That's the million dollar question, isn't it? 🤔 Happy holidays!
Nice recap and yep I'm the guy with the calculator trying to figure out NMPG as you went along😊 It seemed pretty consistent around 1.5, is that what you were expecting? Question, why didn't you fill all the way up in Anacortes since the fuel was cheap? Doesn't the boat hold more than 1,800 gallons? Does running full create issues?
Hey there! Yep, 1.5 is about what we expected. We weren’t always running at optimum efficiency, so we were pleased. As far as fuel in Anacortes, yes! We should have added more at that price. We hold 2000 gallons. A couple reasons we didn’t- 1) we were there at closing time and were kind of rushed the day we were filling. 2) We were still calibrating the tanks and didn’t know for sure how much each one held or had in it, so we didn’t want to risk overflow. 3) We could have gone back another day, without the high quantity discount, but all of a sudden a weather window opened up and we left kind of suddenly. In retrospect, we could have made the time…maybe we even should have filled up our 250 gallon fuel bladder 😂 Cheers- thanks for following along!
@mvnoeta Okay got it on the fuel, life situation vs. technical issue with being totally full.👍
I think I need to watch the video again because I didn't hear anything about how much money it took😂😂😂😂
Yeah- I think we don’t want to know 😂 But we took on about $7,000 in diesel (but still have enough left for the next year). And moorage over the 48 days was probably around $2,000 or so. ish 😅
A boat is just a hole in the water you throw money into
True- at least it’s a hole we love! ❤️
