      Czechmate is definitely cool. However, the closest CZ gets to matching the build quality of the Redback is in the Shadow 2 Orange, in my opinion. Not only is it similar in spec to the Redback, but it’s a finer pistol than the Czechmate is. CZ did a great job with it.

    The open division configuration with the Czechmate is what makes it the winner to me. It already has the frame milled, drilled and tapped for either an optic mount with a thumb rest or just the thumb rest, and also it includes two barrels, and one is capable of using 9mm major power factor for USPSA Open division, with the included compensator. It also includes the optic. I think the MSRP of $3,500 is pretty exaggerated too. I can find it on Bud's Gun shop right now new for $2,700 and I just bought a used Czechmate at a local gun shop on Saturday for just under $2,300 including tax.
    It just seems like you're not mentioning a lot of what makes the Czechmate so awesome, and not talking about all of the other parts that are included with it.

    In my experience, the Parrot version is not as rare as people are led to believe. A quick glance on Gunbroker and there are numerous ones for $3200-3500….They need a diverter on the red dot mount though…

      That seems to be changing. When I filmed the video, the company told me they were importing 10 pistols into the United States per year. As of late, more of them seem to be popping up. My local gun shop has three of them in the cabinet right now and I’ve heard from viewers that their local gun shops have several as well. Thank you very much for watching.

    Another nice video. Still on the fence if I should buy a Redback. In my case, it would be the Ultra Light because I intend to carry it. Now carry a Sphinx SDP, or LTT 92X, or P01 Cajunized, or LTT 92G, or H&K P7, or Graygun P229, or Graygun P228.
    No doubt that fit and finish on the Sphinx is better than any other gun I own except the Feinwerbau AW93, or the P226 X5 SCANDIC.

    The finish and the build of the Redback is way better. Even though the comparison between DA/SA vs SA only like comparing striker to DA/SA, the Redback is more refined.
    I saw a TH-cam Video where the CZ failed during a competition.

  • @KommBat
    @KommBat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice table top! Good audio and lights. It’s hard to described how well the Phoenix is build. It’s like a Infinity or STI with DA/SA trigger. Well yes, a pricey gun, but it’s the Porsche compared to other guns, by the way its build. So, the thought that one can buy 5 Glocks to the price of a PHX, is like a statement that you can get a couple of Wranglers instead of a Cayenne. It’s a top gun and I have not seen a DA/SA gun that’s close to that quality.

  • @stevailo

    About the sights and the serrations on the czechmate, this pistol is really meant to be shot with the red dot and slide racker mounted, so sub par sights and serrations are forgivable, and both are far better on pure iron sighted guns, like the TSO or the Shadow 2 Orange. The not blended in magwell on the other side is absolutely not forgivable on a hand-fitted gun such as the czechmate. Great set of guns by the way, e very well made video!

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much for your kind words. I get your point but where I’m going to disagree with you is that on a pistol that costs $3000 (+-) I expect good sights and serrations. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. Cheers!

    Well, per your “preferences” I understand why you chose the Redback. We like what we like. But, you were smart enough to also realize that your personal choice is relatively silly. The Czechmate is a superior gun just on specs alone. Additionally, you say that you’re not a competition shooter. Then why choose the Redback when it is specifically a competition gun? When making statements, you should under what it is that you’re saying and how it relates to the product you’re talking about.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why I prefer the Redback? Because it is a superb pistol and it shoots like a dream. I enjoy shooting it, I like it better and I enjoy finely crafted pistols. That’s why. And by the way, not in the US, but in Europe there are many competitions being won with the Redback. Thank you very much for watching.

  • @jonasaberg

    I'm a Production division shooter so Redback would be my choice.
    As far as comparisons go, I think a closer match would be the Shadow 2 or Shadow 2 Orange, which is supposed to be a step up. That one would go head to head with the Redback in the same division.
    One thing to consider would also be availability of spare parts. Parts for a gun like the Shadow 2 are very easy to find but a more "custom" gun like the Redback...not so sure where to go for parts if anything breaks. I know the recoil and mainspring (?) are 1911 style so not a big deal there but other parts that wear out...if you have a big match and something breaks, you don't want to wait a month for a part.
    If that happens, I'd probably go Shadow 2.

      +jonas åberg Check out my other videos. I do compare it to the pistols you mentioned.
