It all depends... We were cutting 8mm plates (400mm in lenght) under a minute. And this one cut took one electrode. Changeing the electrode takes also a minute. So in perfect conditions you could cut 1m in 6minutes. 14mm plate could take a little longer. And it depends, how much experience has the diver who is cutting. So... Around 2 hours ... Maybe 😄
@@tHoMManDi I've seen guys that could do that in less than 30 mins (Divers with 15-20 years of experience) but it is all about the skill of the diver, bottom conditions, and honestly luck. On the luck part, some times with the dive things just don't go smoothly. Other times everything just falls in place. The more you burn, the better you get. It is a skill that is thankfully coming back to the Gulf of Mexico in the terms of diving. At my experience level, I'd give myself about two hours to do it as well. The hardest part is learning not to go too fast and leaving hangers.
Hi Rannar, you mentioned in one of the comments, that you were lucky to find a job, I have experience in diving, for 3 years I am out of it three years, is it hard to find a job after finishing this diving school?
It depends on what are you looking for. What is the perfect job for you?... Me personally, I have never had any problems getting a job, but this is me. It all depends on - who are you?
Hi Rannar, any kind of job as a commercial diver, I did my course on commercial diving but it's not close as good as the one in NYD. I did oxy arc cutting and lifting concrete blocks, but not welding, I am interested in welding too but any job would be ok. When I did my course I met two guys, one is a supervisor and other sat diver, they told me then 3 years ago that jobs are declining but if you say that there is no problem to get a job I guess it's better now. I would like to ask you those entry requirements like 400 m swim is strict or?

Great video! How many hours of underwater cutting would it take to cut an opening of 4m x 3m (13ft x 10 ft) through 14 mm (9/16 in) plate for a diver?

I want to consult with you, about a diving welder
About the welding you should ask from Cem Durgun (he also commented here, so you can find him easy). He is the welding instructor at NYD ;)
Thanks for answering me. Thank you. Can you tell me how to find Cem Durgun?
