    Wow that is some beautifully clear water! Looks like the Red Sea.
    I bet canals aren't usually that clear when you do this kind of work eh?

    How the heck do you keep that welding rod right there without floating away? I have a hard time stick welding without water.

      It's not easy, it's a real struggle when you start out but you'll find ways to steady yourself and predict water movement. A good pair of fins for all the kicking is also a help.

      First you have to become a diver. You can find commercial dive academies in France, Norway, England, South Africa etc.
      After you have done your commercial dive training you can take an underwater welding course in England, Belgium, Thailand etc….. It takes time and cost money.

      You sign up for commercial dive training at a school or academy (which ever they call them in S.A.) after that you find out what welding qualifications are needed where you want to work.

    Hi Allan, apparently you are using exodus cutting rods. Do you feel any difference compared to the well known black taped rods ?

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Francis!
      I find that we don't have problems with the rods touching metal and getting gas coming through perforated tape like on the black or yellow taped rods. When we switched most of us divers found that they could be a little harder to re-ignite than taped ones if you'd used half the rod, but it's not something I think about any more. We like them.

    • @francishermans758
      @francishermans758 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your reply Allan, that’s what the divers over here (Belgium) also told me. It was a little problem for them at the beginning especially for the water we have here where we often have nil or reduced visibility.But apparently once you know from where the problem comes, it is easy to immediately take care of it and feel the end of the rod before resuming the cut.

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd probably need a commercial divers license to carry out this kind if work in the UK. There are several European training facilities. In Norway it takes about 3 months to get the cert, then add a welding cert, typically a couple of weeks and you're good to go!

      Industry is up and down. It also depends on where you are based. Some people are lucky and get work straight out of school and do additional courses between projects, other keep adding courses while waiting for jobs. Hard to say, but having something else to fall back on is a good idea.

    How many salary ( dollar) in 1 month?

      It’s difficult to answer. Like how much does a car cost?
      The salary depends on what kind of work you want to do. Which company and country you work at. How much training, courses and certificates you have - it can be expensive to do the training. It also depends on how good you are, so expect to start at a low salary and work your way up. Why not ask divers in your local area what they earn?

      Try contacting Baltic Taucher if you are in Germany. They should be able to tell you.
