    excellent work, do not stop doing sports, I am a Senegalese scuba diver, who goes down to 50 meters deep to catch red groupers ... from 20 to 30 kilos, thank God for giving us the resistance to adapt at this depth which is called deep space, of beautiful nature, coral, flowers, all kinds that live in the water, you will know that god is unique, but I am proud of you, and your work that I love since my childhood and I am now in Mauritania (Nouakchott) thanks to my two brothers (cousins) diver Gana Diouf and khadim Diouf professional diver Senegalese.Thank you on this beautiful video long live diving, my passion🙏🏾❤👌🏿🚭🤿

    How the heck do you keep that welding rod right there without floating away? I have a hard time stick welding without water.

    • @allanpedersen9279

      It's not easy, it's a real struggle when you start out but you'll find ways to steady yourself and predict water movement. A good pair of fins for all the kicking is also a help.

    • @mariobarcor
      @mariobarcor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      solo debes aprender a bucear, para soldar abajo del agua en aspectos de soldadura no cambia mucho en superficie, solo que las polaridades del porta electrodo y tierra son inversos a cuando se suelda en tierra. y los cables deben estar herméticos. saludos.

    The water looks very clean and transparent , i expect to see more polution , but thinking better , may be the proximity with glaciars mades this transparent water , nice video .

      No glaciers here mate, but in the cooler months there is less plankton, jellyfish and other particles in the water so it can be very clear, even in the Capitol's waterways.

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd probably need a commercial divers license to carry out this kind if work in the UK. There are several European training facilities. In Norway it takes about 3 months to get the cert, then add a welding cert, typically a couple of weeks and you're good to go!

      Industry is up and down. It also depends on where you are based. Some people are lucky and get work straight out of school and do additional courses between projects, other keep adding courses while waiting for jobs. Hard to say, but having something else to fall back on is a good idea.

      I went traveling and living abroad when I was 21 opened a dive shop in Thailand. When I was 35 I went to NYD Norwegian Commercial dive training in Norway. It s a 4 months course, after that I started working, doing extra courses when not diving.

      Allan Pedersen How was workin in Thailand? One diver told me that the pay is pretty good when they have jobs. He also said that most divers just sit on the beach the whole day and when the phone rings just go to the job, then back to the beach and wait for the next one.

    Hi Allan, apparently you are using exodus cutting rods. Do you feel any difference compared to the well known black taped rods ?

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Francis!
      I find that we don't have problems with the rods touching metal and getting gas coming through perforated tape like on the black or yellow taped rods. When we switched most of us divers found that they could be a little harder to re-ignite than taped ones if you'd used half the rod, but it's not something I think about any more. We like them.

    • @francishermans758
      @francishermans758 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your reply Allan, that’s what the divers over here (Belgium) also told me. It was a little problem for them at the beginning especially for the water we have here where we often have nil or reduced visibility.But apparently once you know from where the problem comes, it is easy to immediately take care of it and feel the end of the rod before resuming the cut.

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s difficult to answer. Like how much does a car cost?
      The salary depends on what kind of work you want to do. Which company and country you work at. How much training, courses and certificates you have - it can be expensive to do the training. It also depends on how good you are, so expect to start at a low salary and work your way up. Why not ask divers in your local area what they earn?

      Learn a trade that an be handy in the water, then apply for a course at a commercial dive training facility. You are more employable with a trade and then you’ve got something to fall back on if there’s not enough dive work.

      @@allanpedersen9279 would welding be the best trade to learn?

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chriswright8038 Welding is good, mechanical skills as well. If you´ve got those skills before becoming a diver you have a better chance of getting work. If you can "only" dive and have to learn these skills on site you might not last very long.

    • @allanpedersen9279
      @allanpedersen9279  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can sign up to school without any experience. Once you finish your training it looks better if you’ve had some job experience - welding, mechanical or otherwise - but if companies are busy they’ll hire and then it’s up to you to prove that you know what you’re doing. Catch-22.....
      You need experience to get a job, but without a job you ain’t getting it. So anything you can do before, during and after the dive training should help.

      There’s lot of difference in pay depending on where in the world you are, if it’s inshore or offshore and your additional qualifications, also if you’re working full time for a company - including pension, insurance, medicals etc - or if you’re freelance. I’ve heard as low as $15 an hour up to €500+ per day.
