@@DexComics Yeah, but 1998 when the creators of the anime were making it, steel types were not a thing yet. Not until 1999 when Nintendo made gold and silver. I’m sure it existed in the anime timeline, but considering it used red and green/blue version as a base, there should be no steel types yet.

Ash would most likely get Squirtle. Some people would say that Gary would have first pick. But since Prof. Oak is based on his game counterpart, he wouldn't show any favoritism to his grandson just because he's family. We've even seen Prof. Oak treating Ash and Gary equally throughout the show. So Gary getting Squirtle isn't 100% guaranteed.
While it is true that Ash would want Squirtle and would like to him Squirtle. A bigger TH-camr has already done this What If were he gets Squirtle so I gave him Squirtle to make it different
If your doing pokemon stuff I would love to see what if ash got a Trapinch as his starter ( Basically oak gives him the exotic Pokemon instead of Pikachu ) I think it would affect Ash greatly as a trainer because how trapinch evolves into a dragon type and we know how broken dragon types are threw most the show.
Well, he would stay as a Vibrava forever xD not to say that giving a Dragon-type (or future Dragon-type) to a 10 year old child who doesn't seem to have any kind of responsibility is basically asking to kill this child. Not to say that Hoenn didn't exist back in the first season.

It would just happen in a fanfic :/ Not trying to be rude or anything, but.... A Cloyster would defeat almost all his team, Pidgeot probably wouldn't be on his team (because Trapinch can't win against a Pokémon that uses Gust when it just knows bite and a few weak ground moves), Squirtle and Bulbasaur still wouldn't evolve because just Ash changed, the Pokémons still have their personalities and they didn't want to evolve anyway, and he probably wouldn't get the same encounters since he wouldn't act like the 'canon Ash'.

6:20 this actually gave me an idea for my Hoenn high series I've never actually included ANY of Misty's sisters in my series before hell Misty's only in a handful of the series and 2 of them she's dead in 😂 (long story involving actual Velociraptors *fans idea not mine 😂* and another involving an Ultra beast Attack on titan style 😂) But because I hate how gym leaders just had over badges sometimes Eg Skylas air battles where she plays the battle out in her head 😑 I decided to have someone teach Misty's sisters to take the gym seriously rather then constantly rely on Misty That trainer in question being the only water type gym leader who can relate to the sisters as a model and gym leader Nessa from Galar Nessa makes a bet with the sisters she'll battle all 4 of them consecutively if she beats all 4 Misty's sisters have to help out as gym leaders but if Misty or one of her sisters beats or ties with Nessa she'll leave and let things go as they currently do As you can imagine whilst Misty has got strong Pokemon not just her Mega Gyarados she alone can't best or tie against Nessa as all 3 of her sisters fail miserably 😂
