    I always use training mixed with a game of fetch. This helped me build my boys confidence around things that had scared him. Bikes, cars, dogs being walked, joggers, and skateboards. Gaining the focus back to me, and showing good things can come from me (ball and treats), I now have a more confident dog. Still more work to be done, but now that he checks in with me, I think success.

    New times new style videos. Big fan of the classics
    What’s special with Will is while it may seem repetitive but he’s consistently showing through years and different breeds/backgrounds how his basics are still effective

    It unfortunately only works in the evenings and early mornings, but at wake up and bedtime we take our GSD outside with the cat's laser pointer. It's less him chasing it and more he wants to run with it and beat it in a race. It takes five minutes circling around the yard and he's panting and so tired his legs are starting to shake. It really helps set the day for good behavior and helps him sleep through the night.

    • @Berlingoyo
      @Berlingoyo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you need to research laser pointer syndrome in dogs. Chasing something which they aren’t able to catch creates a lot of frustration with no reward.

    • @bmxriderforlife1234
      @bmxriderforlife1234 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @NfSmaN1998 you don't have to let them not catch it. Also pretty sure if it was an issue my wolf hybrid would've mauled something. Think it depends on the dog.

    • @tempestian
      @tempestian ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @NfSmaN1998 depends on the dog. Mine doesn't try to catch it, he just wants to race it. It's like telling someone to follow the path, but the path is built as they follow it.

    Hi Will a note on the tennis ball a rubber ball is a much better choice because the tennis ball will wear down the enamel on a dog's teeth also the glue they use on tennis balls is toxic to a dog stay safe and healthy

    My Australian Cattle dog girl does not like fetch much. She'll do it maybe up to 5x before she's bored. I use different things I can throw to get her to retrieve more often but it's not really her thing. She likes it better if I throw her two toys at once and then she has to bring them back to me. I've noticed that she'll get tired quickly when I use a lot of commands before throwing anything. I used to have GSD's and they would retrieve the ball for hours. They just could never get enough of it.

    I try to simulate with a basic frisbee the way a rodant runs away by throwing it in such a way where it rolls like a wheel very very fast, it brings out the deepest intensity out of him, hes a german shepherd bred from a wolfdog german shepherd mommy, so he doesn't much enjoy bringing it back but ive taught him to via obedience training

    The retreiver fetch training is hiw i raised my wolfhybrid that passed protecrion training at level 4. Hunting work as games, combined with scent working and other stuff. Developed his prey drive but put it under control. Eventually developed defensive drive with scent work for wilderness guide dog training. Hunting dogs sometimes should have that training on top for avoiding damgerous animals. Which the pro trainer and helper used to develop fight drive. Mind you he was supposed to be a level 1 or 2 dog. They took him to level 4 due to how fast he learned and for shits and gigfles to see how far he could go. Honestlt starting to believe foundation is key and temperment of specific pup will determine how foundation training will work and what they will work best being trained in more so then breeds or anything else.

    Hi very nice video which goes with almost all breeds but not with those which were bred to think independent, like shepherds. For example a Mioritic will not fetch a ball because he doesn't see any sense in that activity. Also that focus toward the owner will work only from the distance were he will look back at you to see if you are following him or not - they usualy go in front of the sheeps to check if the area is clear of predators.
    So how you would sugest to work with such a dog? I would like to see, in one of your great videos, your aproach. THX

    Do NOT, i repeat, DO NOT buy them a tennis ball. Tennis balls are abrasive and absolutely terrible for their teeth! Get them a rubber ball with a string or a dummy or something similar.
    Also, while fetch tires your dog, it's not useful for bonding if all you're doing is throwing a ball. You're involvement is just being the ball throwing machine. Fetch should be played the way you say from 1:55 on. Make it a team effort.

    found you from a Podcast that Beckman Dog Training did on YT.
    He said you were good at Puppy Training & have good advice for Beginners. I have never owned a dog, but am trying to learn about it.
    Never heard of a flirt pole.
    good info!
    I tried to get my boyfriends' 4 yo. mutt to fetch, he would not bring it back. I have no idea how to train "fetch" either.
    His dog also is scared of squeeky toys & vacuum cleaners.

    Hi. I have a question. I am currently fostering a three month puppy (German shepherd/herder dog). I just received her 4 days ago. I started training her. What training treats do you suggest?
    I worry if I over feed with her treats, she does not want to eat her normal dog food or she becomes a picky eater.
    Thank you for the videos.

    Daily you need to take your dog on a couple of walks for them to sniff around and go to the bathroom. Is that okay?
    I want to teach my dog to walk on a loose lead also. Can you be relaxed on a couple of walks (without pulling) and then have one good walk with them on a loose lead. Will they get confused?

    A better way than all these is buy a drone. Start with small ones then move to a mid size. If theres a camera remove it for longer fly time. My dog loves chasing the drone. We also do 1 walk a day and sometimes we walk and play with drone.

    i just bought an olde english bulldog puppy hes 11 weeks old, he is continously shitting and pissing on my bed, ive stopped him each time ive caught him made sure that i got his attention and got him to look and the shit and piss and say bold boy and shaking my finger saying no and tried to stop him pick him up run to the dog pad toilet and rewarded him with praise for continuing his shit/piss especially if he chooses to so when not in the middle of one, ive figured out he cant jump off my bed so ive put the dog pad at the end of my bed so as he can easily access it god help my nose but whatever i gotta do to make it easier for him when he can make the jump ill move the toilet to it original spot but what can i do to stop him from shitting/pissign on my bed , im not putting himm in a crate at night only when my eyes arent on him, crate will make no difference trust me he will do it anywhere, i got chicken treats then found out he may have an alllergy to chicken as his father did, ill get new treats asap to help with training but what can i do other than waht ive done making it easier for him to get to it?
