My First RUNNING CAMP | Fastpacking

- In this video I set off for a wild camp, but instead of Hiking in I thought it would be a good idea to run 🤪
My plan was for a bivvy camp to see the Perseid meteor shower, which was supposably going to be at its peak, so I was praying for a clear sky.
Using my OMM Phantom 25 pack, my kit plus food weighed in just over 6kg, this would probably class as ultralight. This is the most weight I have carried on a run before, and I certainly felt it. There was some incentive of course (excluding the fact I want to do events like this in the future) and that was the pub my run would be finishing at.
I hope you enjoy this video

I like seeing videos of places i recognise from my local runs. 5 pits trail, the greyhound, and that railway bridge over towards Woolley Moor. You covered a lot of ground for a single nighter. Well done 👍🏻
It was long run day anyway 😂 so I’d have done a 10+ either way. I also wanted to get somewhere with a relatively decent dark sky as well.
This way meant I got a camp as well, it just left me a long walk home the next day 😂😂
I also like seeing places I recognise on other peoples videos as well 👍🏻

Love the name fastpacking, as cross country skiers we've been doing this in the summer for years, on the coast of Superior. Man, wish we had a place to pickup a pint along the way! Brilliant. Man, way to give er! You knocked off a lot.
Haha yeah it’s great to get a pint along the way, but also I’d love to run somewhere like you do as well 😁
Glad you enjoyed it, I definitely plan on more of this in the future, trying to build my mileage further and further, wish I’d got into running a bit younger really haha
Thanks for watching

Nice video bro with some lovely countryside along the way. Safe travels. Ken.
Thanks Ken, it was great after the first 4 miles which were all town/city lol
It was great to combine 2 of my hobbies

Those Pasta in sauce meals are mint (add a bit powdered milk and not too much water lol) add stuff like chicken, sausage etc to bulk them out. Nice vid Mark, you’ve deffo a canny level of fitness, saying that, you have hammered the miles lately. Cheers mate, Atb, Dave
Haha yes too much water this occasion 😂
I had thought about getting some powdered milk as well, definitely bulk it up better.
I’ve been back on my running since February, and currently doing about 30 miles a week plus 30-40 walking as well. Definitely more adventure runs and camping I want to do so watch this space 😁

Nice lightweight setup for an old geriatric like me Mark.
Yes a minimal kit list great for the mild summer nights 😎
I’m still getting plenty of use out of that snugpak stratosphere 👍🏻

I'm not sure running13 miles with a pack to bivvy out counts as a "good idea" in my book, but then running and me have never seen eye to eye...just ruins a good walk lol But it looks like it was a decent experience for you and Molly though and that was a lovely spot to camp. Those phone photos were really good too, I do love a bit of star gazing. It is a shame how much light pollution we have nowadays, it was definitely better back when I was a kid...but then it was still just gas lights back then lolol Happy trails ;-)
It’s called type 2 fun, less fun at the time but good to look back on 😁 it’s actually amazing you can capture any stars at all on a phone really, so definitely better than they used to be. Was it Allendale we went years ago? That had no lights anywhere on the horizon at all and a great sky. Need to get somewhere like that again for a good star gaze 😎 🌌

@@MarkTayloroutdoorsYes it was Allendale we went to and those dark skies were amazing. Yes definitely be good to go back for some proper star gazing👍
