30 Miles! That's a long day. Good on you guys, you earned them beers. That was an interesting day though, lots to see. Some great patches of wall and forts. Those honesty shops are a great idea. The weather was a bit scattered, although it looked mostly pretty good. Glad you found somewhere to camp. Looking forward to Day 5. Cheers
It certainly was a long day, and definitely earned a beer 😁 I love the history of this walk and following the wall sections and seeing the forts are definitely a highlight for me. We were very grateful for the honesty shops, wish we’d had a few earlier in the trail 😁 The campsite was great, though we didn’t really see a lot of it when we arrived in the dark 😂 Thanks for watching Atb Mark
There’s actually way more wall than I thought there was, we went from Wallsend so saw none on day 1, a little on 2, and loads on day 3 😁 then a little on 4 nothing on 5. Still definitely recommend the full walk, just so you can say you’ve completed, but middle section definitely the best. Thanks for watching Jimmy mate 👍🏻 Atb Mark
A great and very interesting days walk again and well done breaking the 30 mile barrier...that's a big day for sure! The bunkhouse reminded me very much of the old style simple grade Youth Hostels I used to use, a great overnight and even a dart board...what's not to like! I really liked those honesty food n drink stations you found, a kind and wonderful addition to any hike and we definitely need more of them. Special thanks to those who set them up and stock them, proper life savers. I just can't get enough of the wonder that is Hadrians Wall, and letting our imaginations run wild trying to work out what it was originally like is all part of the experience, and as you say, those info boards do help fill in the gaps! Really enjoying this series of vids and I look forward to the final day to round off your adventure. Cheers 🙂
It was another great if long day 😁 Weather was pretty good as well, just windy with that one heavy downpour. Some Great Wall as well, the bridge remains were cool, amazing how far the rivers moved as well in the years. Definitely big thanks to the snack shed people, very grateful for them. Didn’t get much filmed after Carlisle unfortunately as it was backs against the wall finding food and last few miles in the dark to the campsite. Last part up on Thursday, to round up what was a great trip, walking in the footsteps of the Romans immersed in history 😎 Thanks for watching Atb Mark
@@MarkTayloroutdoors You can’t beat being immersed in history when you’re out walking, adds so much to the fun. Watching your vids just makes me want to get back out there! It’s nearly a year since I did Housesteads and Birdoswald and I have withdrawal symptoms lol
That's a bridge to work out for ya Mark. You should be an engineer. It's part of the fun doing the wall - working things out. I gotta say there were some pretty cool outlets along the way - snack sheds and the like. I watched it all bro - end to end. Just enjoyed the snippets. Good the rain came and went - it's why I carry a light weight brolly. Bit well done on the 30 mile. That's good going. All the best out there. Mark
I’d never have guessed it was a bridge unless I read that board, then it just seemed logical that platform would have been a support 😁 those snack sheds were great, I wish there had been more of them earlier in the journey. I’m glad that second rain didn’t stay, as that came down heavy from nowhere, just instant deluge. It’s a bit of a poor ending in this video, we were messing around looking for food then the last road miles just weren’t very inspiring, and it soon got dark and worrying with the odd car, forcing me to get my head torch on. Still it was a great experience to look back on, and nice to get a 30 miler under my belt. Thanks for watching Mark Atb Mark
@@MarkTayloroutdoors No, hats off to those that sussed the bridge out then Mark and to those with the snack sheds - a welcome surprise. Hey, deluge is why I carry a small light weight brolly. It's up in a second - and if the wind is good you can carry it until you orientate. No worries about the boring miles - they happen. A pleasure to sit back and watch.
Some mileage that Mark, epic mate. Those honesty shops are class and by the looks of it, used by honest folk. I’ve never touched this part so it’s gave me a great insight as to what it’s like. Your coverage up to now has been bang on the money. Looking fwd to the next 👍. Atb , Dave
More miles than we bargained for 😂 It just fell that way really, we wanted to be Bowness side of Carlisle and the detour for pizza all added up. Pitched the tent in the dark, had a shop brought beer in the lodge place on campsite you’ll see in last part then straight to sleep 😴 Those honesty places were awesome, definitely came in useful on that end section after not finding many shops anywhere close to trail. Glad you’ve enjoyed the coverage, always like to Cara’s much as possible, and most cut or don’t record a lot of what I’ve put in 😁 Last part out tomorrow 👍🏻 Thanks for watching Dave mate Atb Mark Ps give me a shout next time you’re in the Peaks I’ll see if can join you 👍🏻
Shhhhhh your spoiling the last episode man 😂😂. Loved every minute Mark, you’re deffo a natural in front of the camera, I’ve got about 1000 bloopers every camp 😂. Yep, I’ll def give you a shout mate, Edale and surrounding area is simply beautiful 👌. Cheers fella 👍
That just means my editings good, I have plenty of occasions where I might record an outro 3 times and still not happy 😂 or I say err and other things way too much so I try and cut them out where possible 😂 Re peaks, obviously no guarantee I’ll be able to make it like but if I can I’m there mate 😎👊🏻
Been very interesting walk so far bro with plenty of history along the way. Shame there was no way of recording how things were way back when the wall and bits attached to it were active. Safe travels. Ken.
It would be incredible to see things how they were, that would be the dream. The information boards give us an artist impression of our best guess. Unfortunately this day holds the last of the wall above ground. The history has definitely been one of the best things for me on this hike, love walking in the footsteps of the past. Thanks for watching Atb Mark
I guess with the advances AI is making there is a good chance photo's or even video could get fairly close to what it was like. Finding AI portraits on the computer that are hard to tell the difference to a real person or group of people.
That’s probably something they could do soon, maybe “tour glasses” that could show you what it was like while wearing them, or even a phone app that use your camera to fill the blanks while looking through it. Ai is certainly coming on very fast 👍🏻

A walk that's on my door step but never done the full walk some amazing places along the way but not much of the wall to see atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

I want to go back to Birdoswald for another slice of that flapjack, it was so nice 😋😂

@@WyeExplorer I’ve considered getting a small brolly, it’s definitely on the list for the future
