This one was a lost cause. It wasn't worth the time and effort. The components themselves had basically been destroyed by corrosion. If you have one in a state like this I'd chalk it up to a loss. Drink a beer, celebrate its life and move on.
@@NewRetroRepair yess I saw that 😅 mine looks a lil better but still I don't know enough about all of this repairing old consoles thing.. I'm trying to learn. Maybe I should just give it up.
@@ginmil3436 well if yours has heavy corrosion from battery leakage I'd suggest a weak acid like white vinegar to neutralise the alkaline. Brush it on lightly with a tooth brush. Rinse off the white vinegar with isopropyl alcohol and give it another brush to assess the damage. You're probably going to need some jumper wires at the very least. You'll probably want some kind of microscope or magnifying lens too. It's worth a go if you accept that you might fail on your first attempts 😁
Found my old Game Gear going through my family's storage. The corrosion is this level bad on one side. I'm frankly scared to open it and see what it looks like.
I have one just like this right now. Will just harvest anything still usable land scrap the rest. Shame I’ll have to throw the shell away too.
A game gear I got two years ago at a garage sale with a case, 4 games for $10 was the same way. I was able to fix it. Took a whole while though!

I found a game gear just thrown away and it's pretty much 10 times worse than this one
At least I found it in one piece the problem is that it's too dirty indeed it's dirtier than anything you could think of
