@@espurrseyes42 Honestly I've grown out of my hate of that song. Besides if you listen to the lyrics it still tells you what's going on in Dante's story in the game just as Devil Trigger and Crimson Cloud did for Nero and V.

The difference is those make sense without their respective plot points. Not to mention that Nero hasn't been around long enough to have his own musical style associated with him whereas Dante has been around for ages rocks the signature electronic/rock hybrid themes DMC is known for only to go into 5 with some screamo shit that honestly would've been fine had it started playing AFTER the plotpoint and not a few missions beforehand (only to then rarely get used even after said plotpoint).
@@espurrseyes42 I'd say however Dante wasnt in his usual state of mind in DMC5. He basically abandons Trish to V so that he could push onwards, he's clearly in a much darker place given the situation and honesty I think a more gruesome tone is in order given where his mind is at in the story

Doubt it given the self-quipping he was doing during that same mission and the bike nonsense he pulled right after at the start of the next mission, and that's not even getting into the stuff he does after. Dude's more serious than he was in 4, but he hasn't gone full emo edgelord or anything to warrant the theme he got (again, when being played prior to the plot point).
Definitley made the standards for music in the gaming industry a lot higher.
Video game music has been phenomenal for years now. NieR, Metal Gear, Drakengard, DMC, GTA (it's actual original OST), FFXIV... Literally too many to list. Video game music is some of the best and most developed in the entire music industry.

Metal Gears Rules of Nature was smart sure, but it's not as epic or deep. Final Fantasy I've heard those kind of songs so many times in any other typical anime let alone the games.
Drakenguard, I'm mean sure? It's cool but it's still something we've heard before.

Bury the Light is a fucking amazing song, but it isn't the only song of it's kind. It isn't overly unique either - it's progressive rock/metal, which has been a genre for... 30-40 years?
Regardless, as I said, you claim to have listened to those, but I can tell that you frankly haven't - especially since you only picked out Rules of Nature from MGR, when "The War Still Rages Within" or "The Only Thing I Know For Real" are more comparable tracks to this one.

Fact about the music in this game: The music adapts to your skill, if you play with Vergil (the character of this song) and you play well you will hear the better parts of the song, let's say you made an SSS combo, then the music will go "I AM THE STORM THAT IS APROACHING".

What's sick too is that the vocal melody when he says "Bury the light deep within..." is the same as Nero's "Embrace the darkness that's within me..." in Devil Trigger. I thought it was a beautiful thematic way to signify their father/son relationship.

Honestly you should listen to the fans all time favorite track Devils Never Cry. No track from any of the new games can compare to it. Also the Cerberus Battle theme from DMC 3 was bomb the lyrics make you feel just something else.
