    This is the kind of healthy discussion on sex that our society needs. These tips and ideas are great, even for non-Christians (such as myself).
    Thank you for sharing a practical and tangible way to navigate dating that is also universal. And a way to talk to our future children. And thank you for being a great example of marriage and of marriage in Christ.

    Sent to my 17 year old son, Such great advice! Thank you for sharing! Playing house and moving in with my sons father before we were even engaged ruined everything and we never ended up marrying. God has so much for you young people who wait and He will bless you and your future spouse! I am a living example of how much trauma comes with being promiscuous. Jesus saved me from a life of addiction, sexual immorality and abuse and I am now a 38 yr old single momma who is waiting for marriage (my first). It’s not easy but nothing worth having is easy. God has so much grace and mercy for those who follow Him and all you have to do is try to live a life pleasing to Him, read His word and know what it says so you know the guidelines and The Holy Spirit will help you every step of the way! God bless y’all ❤🙏🏻🙌🏼

    As a middle aged single women who has been saved for over 30 years.. I have learned there is freedom in keeping good boundaries. Treating others as sisters and brothers in Christ, not playing with anyone's emotions, building genuine friendship - that is very different from the world.
    Also have learned that segregation and outward rules do not really help to protect from sinning, as people always tend to find a way aroynd.. the motivation to stay pure needs to be in the heart.💙 Sadly, I have met many Christian men, who like to see how far they can get and to keep the woman hooked, just for an ego boost.. so avoiding sex alone does not guarantee the relationship is healthy. Still trusting God for 'the whole package' one day soon ..!🙏🏻

    How did u deal with your " " urges?

    • @OurFruitfulFamily
      @OurFruitfulFamily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t get to “deal” with them. The answer is self control, prayer and boundaries. Prayer first. Set boundaries to keep yourself from getting “urges” in the first place. Prayer if you happen to get urges. Something like this… “ Father, I know that you created my body to desire sex. Please help me to resist these urges that I am feeling. Help me to control this desire to list and sin against you and look forward to a life of guilt free sex in marriage in Jesus name.” Self control and prayer is how you can purely and biblically deal with the urges you may have. Sex of any form (with a partner or with yourself) is considered fornication prior to marriage and is therefore sinful. I hope this help. We plan to expand more in this in future videos.

    As a women that got married a virgen in 2001 at 25 after I got my law degree. My I add some more tips?
    Don't stay with at your boy friend's or your girl's home alone. This was not that hard for because I lived with my parents till I got married, ( I went to a local law school ) but if it is your case, avoid it.
    No christian should have oral sex, married or not, the Bible is very clear about how annoying it is for God when even married couples use their body for pervertion.
    Don't keep condoms in your wallet for the " just in case".
    Don't go alone on vacations. My husband and I did go on vacations before been married...with family and friends, friends that thought like us...guys in one room, girls in other room

It’s absolutely not perversion. (My husband and I have never watched porn or anything perverted). We have freedom in Christ to be intimate with each other in every sense of the word.

      Good question. We actually planned on touching on this in a future video. Been doing lots of reading lately and studying, trying to find everything I can on the subject of sex and sexual immorality in the Bible before making that video. I have yet to come across anything scripturally that says there’s anything wrong with it. As far as I am understanding, anything is permissible within the confines of the marriage bed between a man and a woman. assuming both partners are consenting that is. • @theresemalmberg955
    @theresemalmberg955 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a real problem with the idea of if you look at someone in lust it's the same as having sex with them. I mean I sort of get what Jesus was saying here, BUT, what is the difference between normal healthy sexual desire and lust? That was something I was never taught. Instead I was taught to be AFRAID of sexual feelings, to the point where I just mentally and physically shut down.
    I do cardio drumming at the senior center twice a week and there is a song that we do called "I'm So Excited". While I enjoy this song, I am going to be brutally honest with you. I don't get it. I don't understand it. I don't really know (other than on an intellectual level) what this song is about. Because I've never experienced it. I'm in my mid sixties, and I do not know what it feels like to feel this way about another person. I might as well be neutered. It is indeed very possible for someone to hear things like you shouldn't think about sex and internalize this message to the point where you are so repressed sexually you can't respond. If I understand it correctly, this combined with the prohibition against masturbation, means that as a single Christian whose chances of marriage dwindle with every passing year, if I am faithful to the Lord I will never know what it is like to have an orgasm or at least I shouldn't know. Am I right? Is this never knowing, never experiencing something I am being called to, or have others determined it for me? Have I indeed sacrificed something that is my God-given birthright because of a mistaken understanding of what Scripture and Christ demands of me? Oh, I am sure that there are plenty of people out there--because I have run into them--who will say, but God will reward you for being faithful, that's the most important thing. When I was younger I had old church ladies fawn over me and coo and ahh about how wonderful it was that I was still chaste and not going out and having sex like all those other young women. I was their "pet virgin." What I wanted out of life was irrelevant. What pain I felt on not being able to find someone was irrelevant.
    Scripture indeed says it is better to marry than to burn. But it is totally silent about what to do when you want to marry but there is no one to marry. Do you--should you--destroy your sex drive? Apparently, yes! And so, it seems, I have. I'm not sure if the damage can, or should be reversed. After all, I am almost 70 years old. There aren't a lot of single men out there--and MOST of those are not Christian, or if they say they are, they don't hold with reserving sex for marriage. Look around your church if you don't believe me. How many single men are there? And what age groups do they fall into? If I came to your church tomorrow and asked, is there someone my age that you could introduce me to, how many of you would say, yes I know someone who's single and who you might be interested in? And how many other single women in that church would I be competing against? And at this stage of the game, would marriage help or hurt me? Singles who are seniors have quite different issues than singles just starting out.
    This is not to say that I disagree with what Christianity teaches about reserving sex for marriage. It is how it works out in practice that I am concerned with. Not all of us get married--and sometimes, in the case of senior citizens on social security and medicare, marriage can actually bring a substantial financial penalty. What does one do then?

    • @OurFruitfulFamily
      @OurFruitfulFamily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow. This may be the longest comment we’ve ever received. Haha! I’ll try to get straight to what I’m finding to be your root question. Is there someone out there for everyone? Should everyone marry? If not, what should we do with our sex drive? Paul was saying that it is better to stay single like he is then to marry. This is because you have one less distraction in life if you don’t have an earthly family to be concerned with. You can devote your life to your true love and passion, Christ. Not everyone was meant to marry. If you feel like you were not meant to merry, God calls us to chastity. You must abstain. If you feel you cannot abstain, and burn with lust, you need to marry. To be clear, marriage doesn’t fix lust. It gives you a God given outlet for sexual desire. Lust is a heart issue that you should be in prayer about. Sexual desire is natural. Lust is when you cannot control your sexual desire and you sinfully look at the opposite sex, having sex with them in your heart. You can have sexual desire with lusting. Self control is the key here. I hope this helps. We have all struggled with this. God bless you!

    • @theresemalmberg955

      @@OurFruitfulFamily It's not a matter of feeling that you are not meant to marry. What Paul was talking about was voluntarily chosen singlehood for the purposes of God. We can both agree on that. It is involuntary celibacy that is the problem. I do feel that there is such a thing as waiting too long and having TOO much self-control. This isn't talked about.
      If the church is going to insist on waiting until marriage--and I do agree with that teaching, BTW; it's why I'm in the position I'm in--then the church also needs to be more proactive in seeing that its members who wish to marry actually do marry. That may take the form of singles' events (and not just for young people!). It may take the form of matchmaking. Introducing people to one another. As in, hey, I know someone you might be interested in and who might be interested in you. I'm not saying be a busybody. There are people who are content in being single and that should be respected. But to say to someone whose heart's desire is to have a family, no, you can't have that, when you yourself are feasting at that table, that's wrong. HELP that person find a partner in Christ. Don't leave it all up to chance and fate.

      I agree with you. That’s why we are talking about these things from a biblical point of view. The church is too quiet on the matter and when they do talk about it, it’s in a negative light. Purity culture can be so damaging when taught and portrayed incorrectly.

      @@OurFruitfulFamily I am so glad that you and others are doing so. It's sorely needed as you can see. I can't change the damage that's been done to me in the name of purity culture but I can speak out about the harm it does. Keep in mind that I am at least twice your age and so I grew up in a time where the attitudes I describe were very common, even in secular society. When the sexual revolution began 50 years ago it was a very difficult and confusing time for me personally as I was starting to go through puberty as well as for the church which was not equipped to deal with this sudden massive social upheaval. There was probably quite a bit of overreaction, driven by fear, which accounted for my repressive upbringing; but as I said, these attitudes were present in society as well to some extent and the sexual revolution partly came about as a means of correcting them. Wrongly in my opinion and I think you can agree with that. So when I critique purity culture I am coming from the standpoint of someone who lived through the sexual revolution and its aftermath. This was very new at the time. So just to give you a bit of context here.
      Just one more thing and then I'm through. I think the church needs to do some soul-searching on this issue and decide what abstinence really means. Is it abstinence until marriage or lifelong abstinence? If marriage is the primary goal, then what about those who have trouble finding a partner? What are the roadblocks here and how can they be overcome? Because I'm going to be frank here. People like me who are involuntarily single because they believe in waiting for marriage (a marriage which never came) are not exactly a success story--and the world, looking on, has every right to say EPIC FAIL, why should anyone wait? Just some food for thought . . .
