Gotta love how this lesson not only shows how to do the routine, but breaks down every element so as to give a functional framework of how all the techniques here work together, meaning this can actually be used to help us apply the ideas in our own ways. Plenty of solid DJs are teaching on TH-cam, but this dude is actually a good teacher 😎
i put the white noise on a sample pad, this is 1 of james's techniques that made me want to learn to dj, i just love the sounds he gets out of his decks/mixer.
As a guitar player, i found it easier than most to get my timing to sound smooth and not mechanical. It uses the same wrist rotation that picking a guitar fast uses.
Awesome!! Super tutorial! Easy to understand and follow. As always, press play!! Thank you man! I tried to do this weeks ago, still practicing, I get lost everytime with the musics Im mixing. Hard to get a rythm in my head while listenning to another song and making a transition. But yeah, I'll practice harder and hope one day will be able to show something. Thanks again! Can't wait to see the next part!
i play piano for about 9years now but i also started playing a ddj 400 about a year ago. i always made creative build ups but i never did anithing like this before. but the only thing separate me from this build up is the fast hand. but now i know how to practice it.
Forest job with lessons od dj. My 9 years old kid wants to be a dj, so now i need to start as a dj so i can teach him and help improove the skills, what's funny it Turned up i get more into it then him. :D
Phil I think ur videos are the best DJ tutorial videos on TH-cam in my opinion because u make everything so simple which DJ beginners can then learn from and watch over again
Your are right, that's exactly what he does. Saw him live and picked up that little trick. While you can do what Phil says, it's not quite the right way. I have being practicing this for awhile and I notice the reason James Hype does it with the noise effect is because his decks remain free to mix what ever way he chooses. If he decides to set a loop on the fly and shorten it while at the same time hot cuing a vocal on a separate deck in the mix he will use the white noise effect. Well done for noticing, not many understand how he really does it.
@@DJPhilHarris I hope I didn't offend you. I think you did a great job. And I think your right, the method you have shown could certainly be done on any controller. I also think theirs great value in DJs understanding that James hypes is not just hammering the up faders hes doing it in rhythm which you explained very well. Anyways, keep up the good work.
@@BorisBeing The white noise effect is built into the colour effects on the mixer. Many of the pioneer controllers have it but I think some of the lower end ones may not, however I'm not too sure about that as I'm not familiar with the budget gear. But If you wanted to have it on call to use whenever you wanted to and don't have a color effects section on you controller, I suppose the noise effect could be assigned to a sample pad. Just download a white noise wav and save it to a sample pad. Set the sample pad to loop and also set it to stay on when triggered. Or if you don't what to go through all that hassle, just do it the way Chris does it. As he pointed out it's a way to do it that will work on any controller.
I know this is a new Comment but I went on the decks for the first time on the weekend and I want to know a few more bits is pioneer rekord box good or not to use a starter
you talk too much mate , you are not teaching math better show people what to do than talk talk talk, half of the video is boring.I have seen a few videos u all talking,

Literally been fan boying over James' youtube videos this year, great series Phil!

I'm so excited to get this done ❤James Hype Way!
Yes, love this way of learning, thank you 🙌
James Hype has the most amazing skills! The mash-uppy pop house thing isn't really my genre but I love watching him. Maybe if I did more uppers...
Happy Days!!!!!!

Video is 10 mins.
9mins of 10 = "press play..."
love you bro, keep going

This a great video Phil! I love the step by step approach. Easy to follow.
Great stuff Phil keep up doing james hype videos loving this!!👍
Thanks! It's a good method, but the thing that bugs me a little is that you could've just put it on a sample button .. am I wrong?

Phil: HAPPY DAY
Hype!
Thanks dr phil, and oh yeah... Press play 😉
One word.... Helium!
This is great! I have a backround from a lot of heavy metal guitar playing, so this rythm thing is coming very easy for me :D
(tries to create djent-house by palm-muting fader)
if you have a controller with color effects, you can use noise to make the white noise. Pretty sure that's what James Hype does on his CDJs.

Hey, I am aware that this is possible but I wanted to make it a tutorial that any one with any decks could do. Thanks for your comments! P

JIM-BO WILLIE but how to make the noise on a controller though? On the cdj’s he probably has that as one of the built in effects right?

It's good that DJ's are examining what James is doing. He is Pioneers man and also currently the most creative DJ in the world. We can learn.
Keep doing what your doing
Hey Phil was having problems with the card in using can u tell me ya? Trying to get ur samples?
This is where a gated punch button would save your fader.
very helpful! love the slow methodical way
Me watching this vid: "I bet he forgets to press play on deck 2again..."
DJ Phil Harris: "... oops... PrEsS PlAaAy"
it‘s easier if u let the volume fader of the noise straight up and cut with the crossfader so u need less movement🤷♂️
Dago Diezel then the sound get cut of more «cleaner» this tecnuiqe has more «power» to it😅
I know this is a new Comment but I went on the decks for the first time on the weekend and I want to know a few more bits is pioneer rekord box good or not to use a starter
Press Play😂😂😂
Although very nice Video....
Thank you Sir....😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
That is good phil, always something new to learn. Good job bro. 👍

Press plaaayyy
Awasome bro i enjoy your vdo a lot dream profession of me being dj
soooo dont press play? lol love the videos mate
Hi James you’re very good. But that play botton seems to have you stumped. How many times have you tried to mix without pressing play live 😆 lol
Press play
DJ GINGER BISCUIT RIGHT>? why not!!!
I want to learn to DJ. I bought S4Mk2 but I have no more money and I'm not working.. I'm a student. Please help me :(
You should call this series “how to half ass it and have nothing to be proud of”
Thanks, That is a lot easiser.
I think this video should call HOW KILL FADERS LIKE HAMES HYPE
What i learned the most is how to press the play button
I found that the Controller's volume sliders or even the fader is very stiff compared to a DJM700 800 900 whatever...
where is the link?
PRESS PLAAAYY
Where is the link to the sample?
How to jameshype - buy some pioneer cdjs
Cooool
Can’t even remember to press play lmao 😂
rip faders
I literally did this and broke my upfader
Press play 😂
The main takeaway is to press play
Ha so funny! Scary how often I forgot to do it!
@@DJPhilHarris haha great tutorial regardless!
you made it longer for no reason because pretty easy technique so you couldvd elaborated more
You gotta change the age limit for this video.
The volume sliders are being to brutaly abused.
Good luck getting to James HYPE Standard.......boys epic
Practice makes master, just like any other instrument
remember....
PRESS PLAY
First of all u need to go to gym every day like him to be able to fade like that
This sounded nothing like the James hype one 😓
I’ve actually had a go and pretty much you want to set a beat loop to something like 1/32 so it’s very fast and then you strum the fader
Press play ... lmao
Why did you, stop this series? Part 3 part 4 part 5?......
I'm nothing with a heart. I want an answer instead?
you talk too much mate , you are not teaching math better show people what to do than talk talk talk, half of the video is boring.I have seen a few videos u all talking,
Wtf is this
