Gundam Battle Operation 2: Moon Gundam, Buffed or Scuffed?

- The Moon Gundam was sitting relatively well at 700 cost. It had high combo potential and could even counter raids and maneuver armor units with a ranged melee weapon! However, once the Unicorn units arrived, the Moon Gundam started to suffer VASTLY. The unit was effectively neutered once NT-D mode was activated near it, removing its high damaging combos and the ability to shield itself for a high and crucial amount of time. It was torture. The Unicorn however was nerfed at some point and other units that go to 700 were changed as well. The Moon Gundam followed in the same footsteps. Has it ascended back to previous glory? Or will it sulk back into the dark corner of Moon Moon?
It is interesting to see how many Moon players seem divided on which is the better primary choice. I see many choose the Varguil rifle for access to double stun through charging and the grenade launcher, but I also see a good few choosing that long rifle for extra range and high damage charge shots. I am guessing you prefer the long rifle since you said you don't think too highly of the shotgun rifle at the moment.
I think another thing with Moon these days is that it has a uniquely good match-up against the ever so common Sinanju Stein. It feels so hard to take that thing down in melee since it takes half melee damage once the Psychoframe skill activates, but Moon can just throw the plates at it to bypass that entirely. Like with how you mentioned it can actually almost one combo raids. I myself have even seen Stein players that missed out on building ballistic defence die in one combo from full HP to nothing.

For me, I’m just not good with the varguil beam rifle. However, I can recognize the benefits it would have over the easier to use long rifle in the hands of a better player. And yea, the suit certainly has a leg up over the Stein.
And agreed, it is nice to see 700 better than it was.
Had a match the other day where the enemy team was all Moon Gundam. So this thing getting a buff made sense of that.
The moon gundam plates could be reworked similar to phenex shield funnel attack
I think Moon Gundam is best used in a opportunistic playstyle. Using your pyscoplates to either approach or escape. Also stunlocking with your beam rifle and butterfly edges. The Moon has been power crept but it is still a fun and damaging gen.

I've been dominating with this suit recently. The stun accumulation buffs along with the shotgun make it a lot lot better in the mid range. It's melee output alongside the butterflies and the plates makes it hard to leverage MA against and can get you severely punished if it knocks you down.
Yea butterfly edge is a fantastic tool to deal with pretty much anything you’ll encounter because of the property it has lol.
@aquavengeance yeah. Honestly with the combo of butterfly and plate shield this suit kinda rules the mid/ mid to close range. If it stuns you, you can't rely on MA to reposition cause the butterflies come out, and it's hard to engage cause of the plates. Shotgun gives it the GN as well which is why I like it better personally.
I legit haven't used it since it was released. It's got a nice gimmick, but it really needs some more substantial upgrades, than what it got here, for me to choose it over Unicorn or even the Nu gundam.

They should probably revamp the psycho plate attack pattern like the phenexs that'll make it good instead of missing every single one just because the enemy moved a little to the left 😅
I mean hell they gave it in the special counter animation so it's not like the plates can't exactly do that normally lmao
Yea I think a better attack pattern would be better.
I forgot to mention in my vid varguil beam rifle is actually better for it especially in this unicorn meta, moon can destroy the unicorns before they can nt, even if you survive it wouldn't matter if you jack the moon and the moon isn't going to stay close for that to happen anyway, jamming doesn't hurt as much so moon is more free to do it bullshit moon is actually meta I explain why in my up coming vid it's long as fuck but if you wanna understand my point gotta watch all of it lol and I do bring up your points but it's not a video coming at you or anything I might sound aggressive but it's passion you should know me by now
Oh I agree, the varguil gun has more on it. The end point was I think the Moon is fine now that other suits were also buffed to be at least viable picks at 700. It’s not fighting a team full of suits that counter it. I even say if there’s one or two unicorn suits the Moon Gundam should do fine lol. Especially with the new skill it has to specifically counter NT-D. And yea it’s alright man, discussion is nice.

How to buff the Moon? Get the instant stun weapon...
From what I've been told the long rifle is actually the worse of the two options if only for the build stun utility and extra stun weapon in the nade launcher the shotgun rifle provides. The long rifle for the most part isn't anything to write home about.
to be fair the Moon did always struggled a bit even before the RX-0's were added. As it ironically did got buffed which are also things it should of been given at the same time as the Varguil did like with less time to use the Butterflies again from 18 to 12 seconds, just that it was given it at the wrong time for it to be able to show off the buffs it got to it's full potential cuz of the very unnecessary jamming shit the RX-0's had on the long run. Which yes was at itself still worse then it was before for the Moon, Just stating that it was struggling even before the RX-0's got added
also strange how this is a suit I tend to not see a whole lot of vids on last year only till it got "Buffed" when the Unicorn was added, not like I know how much people did after Unicorn being added on the long run. It's just a weird thing I noticed with how I try searching for moon gundam matches and it's mostly of when it came out then after then it came out, unlike the suit you see everyone want buffing like Sazabi which is still weird why that suit did not got anything at this point so far, yet I see plenty of matches with that suit to this day of people using it and doing very well with it even during RX-0 hell. IDK it's a very strange thing I noticed is all when it came to these 2 suits.
Oh it did have points of struggling but it was nowhere near the rate after the Unicorns. It’s first buff win rate was 46.6 and after the buff the win rate jumped up to 49.4 which was above average back then and the average now for 700. It’s win rate was absolutely demolished after the unicorns stepped in.
I think it can only do fine now because of elements outside the Moon’s control.
I’d imagine that with the Sazabi, not only is it a popular suit that people like outside the game, it has a underdog story to it in-game. People want to see someone do really well in a suit some might consider inadequate. Some people like playing off meta showing others how they can win with it, etc. it was like this before even the unicorn. And in my opinion it have a more ‘exciting’ kit compared to the Moon Gundam.
@@aquavengeance I mean obviously it did had it worse with the RX-0's being there just that I thought it was worth consideration of pointing out that it always need some work even if it was just a good suit. like a 7/10
which can be said for the Sazabi which is too a good suit that just needs some work with stuff like stun build up with it's weapons and double dodge roll. That and obviously it be Char's ultimate MS so why wouldn't anyone not care for it to be greater then it is currently.
it feels much nicer to play even it doesn't changed much.
Schneid lv4 need a big big buff, that suit feels like shit at 700 cost.
Funnily enough it has one of the best counters to suits at that cost with the Zeon shotgun lol.
Have you considered not using the Schneid way past it's cost, I get it you want to use funny shotgun on unicorns but sometimes you shouldn't play a suit at a certain cost regardless if it has a level there but can't really stop the memes.
i have to tried it but it really hard to make it work out most of the times it struggling more.
Pre nerfed unicorn everything was kinda meh compared tho lol
