- TEXAS SIZED BEEF! Today we take on the biggest Salisbury Steak Challenge in the deep heart of Texas. Weighing in at over 120 oz this steak is filled with seasoned beef, cheese, jalapeño and served with a house gravy , green beans and mash potatoes! We are at the Horned Toad cafe in Kennedy TX , a local hub for food and community taking on this massive Texas steak challenge! We have 30 minutes to complete the southern food challenge in order to get the free steak and the win of the $75 value meal. I am joined today by Ms Texas from the Ms America pageant herself and a local Texas football player who are going to try to attempt the American food challenge together (special permission) to prove that Joel Hansen the professional eater is just a normal person… this is the biggest Biggest Hamburger Steak and biggest steak challenge in south Texas.
Salisbury steak is a dish originating in the United States and made from a blend of ground beef and other ingredients and usually served with gravy or brown sauce. It is a version of Hamburg steak / hamburger steak.
Can we complete this Texas sized food challenge? Or will this giant steak challenge be the death of us?

My exact thoughts... fry the patty (no matter how large) to 85% done then simmer in gravy until done. This way the patty is moist.. there I said it... moist!

Miss Texas had the same look I did when faced with eating fried pork liver at 5 years old. I still won't eat beef or pork liver. But she reacted that way with everything.

Salisbury Steak was popularized in the 1950s as a TV dinner entree - - glorified hamburger with brown gravy.
Yes . . . . I saw this earlier. Not sure how the marketing / distribution / TH-cam algorithms work for Joel to re-release this, but it is confusing. However, epic, entertaining, and I am happy to be a subscriber. But I just watch them . . . . . .the first time.
