Your videos have helped me immensely to automate my heating system by using relays to control my dual speed furnace blower and thermostat control using a relay with a latching circuit to keep the relay when activated from fooling the anticipator of the thermostat while the gas valve load and relay load are on together! The latching of the relay takes the relay load off of the anticipator of the thermostat!
Hey Mrmatt, not sure if this is something that you are interested in, but have you ever thought about doing something to do with the service lifts inside wind turbines. Obviously it would be very hard to get into one, but maybe do a vid explaining them.
Never really thought that I’d come across a channel showcasing what I see on a daily basis. I been in the elevator trade since 2007 and been a service mechanic since 2011 for TKE. It’s interesting to see equipment I don’t normally come across here in the states. I have worked on a lot of a equipment in my 11 years all manufacturers, relay logic to CPU based, wooden escalators and hydros that used the city water pressure are some of the more unique. That’s what is great about this trade there is always something unique and new to me to learn about.
You never dissapoint, QUALITY that keeps going up. Thanks for your time and effort. Really nice and well explained. I think I love this floor selector concept over others in terms of no moving parts, carriages, wheels. Not so cool to see like and Otis or Express, but man, really effective. I think the other one that doesnt use moving parts on motor room is the one that pulls levers up and down as car passes. And there is one lever per floor. Levers work as mechanical memory. I believe that lift in the building where my Grandparents live use this system. I think I have seen this in Chernobyl videos ? Sort of Bennie approach. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!
@@BooDinoGaming Cool, thanks Reese! I have a question for you... When I was a kid I never even mentioned the subject of lifts because people thought I was weird! So you're probably interested in lots of things, but you do ever discuss that you are interested in lifts with any one else? I mean, parents, friends, at school? Just wondering! Personally, I wouldn't because people might still think we are weird ;) You know, with youtube I've seen so many different interests. Can you believe it, one of my subscribers is a fan of WASHING MACHINES. Uhmmmmm, uhhh okaaaaaaay thennn?! But it goes to show that people are not weird (well, mostly not lol!). Getting into motor rooms is very difficult these days, and due to 'health and safety' they never let anyone in unless you need to be in there for something. In my job as a technical engineer (access control systems) sometimes our controllers for nearby doors are in them, so this is EXCELLENT chance to film them! Anyway, thanks for watching my videos :)
I try to jump into the minds of the people who design these relay systems. But their genius is beyond me. I can't wait for the creepy lift. My favourite sort.
Incredible video, thanks for explaining the operation, I love the relay-operated elevators, the accuracy they achieve without the need for electronics is incredible. The LEDs of floors and call button, I like it very much, it makes it unique, and it is hypnotic to see how it turns on and off xD. Surely the floor indicators and call buttons have more electronic than the rest of the elevator xD.
Cool, glad you liked it! I too love old lifts, but they are becoming a thing of the past now. Bennie designed most of their system with relays, whilst most other manufacturers used some kind of mechanical device in the motor room to keep/remember the lift position. I'm assuming that, if these remanent relays were to turn off (somehow) this would probably trigger some kind of 'return to bottom position', where the roller switch at the bottom of the shaft would then reset the bottom floor. Would have loved to have been there when they designed and tested this system!
Really impressive video! I’m fascinated by the relay logic behind the floor indicator, and the relays used. I’ve never heard of a remnant relay. I’ve used a few of the Schneider impulse relays before, not sure if they’re similar? Looking forward to finding out more!
You mean this one? www.flickr.com/photos/32220649@N08/5137440430/ and www.flickr.com/photos/32220649@N08/5136835929 ? Unfortunately they were modernised about 5 years ago now :( But these are goods lifts and not really designed for passengers, so these are not really the same as the up/down buttons are on the landings. I'm glad I got some photos of them before they were modded with Otis 2000 buttons.
Ah, just realised this is Waitrose. Was this the place you mean? Ah, and Decondsfield possibly a typo or possibly I'm thinking of the completely wrong place here :)
Otis and Express is 100v/110v. Not sure about Bennie, but for some reason I have 60 volts in my head? I have a couple of these remanent relays (can't find them now though) and think this is what they said on them?
Interesting! Thanks for replying By the way, what do you think about this very very old Mitsubishi lift in a tv tower? It’s such an awesome lift I am wondering how the floor selector can display a floor 2 times haha th-cam.com/video/jZkm7kMFIX8/w-d-xo.html
It's going to be a while I'm afraid because I want to rig something up to show you the operation of the system. This type of video needs time to do, and while I'm making something like this, you won't see an upload for a month or so. I'm going to get some other videos done before starting this one.
@@mrmattandmrchay Okay thanks! Not long ago, I went to a machine room and it was practically the same as the one in this video! It was my first experience. I did not go alone, my father (who works at ThyssenKrupp) came. It was a Lille metro elevator, which is very creepy! Without advertising, come see the channel "Ascenseur de France" and you will see. Excellent detail in the operation of this system and well explained. Cheers

Man , that did look like a lot of editing. But the multi-camera sequence was SWEET!!!
I love lifts like this one they are amazing!
me too, although Bennie lifts are not as interesting to watch as all the moving parts are behind plastic cases on those ice cube relays.
And I love your vids
I have been a big fan of old lifts for a few years and I have never been in a Motor room

Interresting floor position system, seems very simple and effective.
Spectacular video MrMatt!!
This is unique!
I am jealous of your editing skills! Job WELL DONE as always!
Love it! Looking forward to the next video!
Enjoyed this mate. Glad to see this and well worth the wait
cool, thanks for the comment!
Finally after a long time!!!!!

Those relays remind me so much of 80/90’s scifi anime (like Eva or Gundam)
6:29 Why do the contactors make this ringing sound when switching off?
Probably just reverberation through the metal cabinet. Those contactors do not take prisoners!
Do the remanent relays have steel electromagnets?
Hey there is a goods lift like that in the becondsfield new town sainsburys i allways go there hope u go there and keep these vids up

I agree, old lifts are cooler.
nice, i like how they replaced those relays by solid state relays, didn' t see this before!
Very nice motor on that! You say it’s 80s? It seems wayyyy older!
Older ones don’t have LED indicators
What os the name of the introduction (elevator and warning) please? I like this music
P.S: very good video 😉
You mean after the intro, the warning and first part? That's Final Fantasy, find it in youtube audio library.
