- Woah, I made another video. Isn’t that crazy? And it’s about Drag Race again, except this time, I’ll be ranking my favourite US Drag Race main series Rusicals. And the best thing is, I already disagree with my rankings before I’ve even uploaded the video. I love having opinions which change like the wind.

I assume the reason they didn't use original music in Moulin Ru is because Moulin Rouge is a jukebox musical that doesn't use original songs either.
Trump the Rusical is my least favorite because the message at the end is to vote for Ivana and Oprah and Hillary? Who are terrible people, just like Trump? Rupaul and his writers can never do political commentary well lmao, they should leave that to the queens like in Choices 2020.
Totally agree. Drag Race never seems to be able to write political commentary well. It always just ends up feeling very out of touch with reality. And that’s especially apparent with the Trump Rusical.
We’re honestly so lucky that we’ve even gotten great political challenges at all (Choices 2020 on S12 and Shady Politics on S8). I guess those challenges work better because it’s a parody of politics as a whole and it’s not preaching favour for any particular US political party/candidate
Fully agreed. Ru and his team are out of touch ultra-millionaires and think “well if there isn’t an (R) next to their name, they’re automatically a great politician! If you say something vaguely liberal you’re The peoples’ champion”
Before watching the video. I’m gonna say my choice for best is easily Madonna the rusical. It’s got the most top tier performances in it

I'd have Moulin Ru lower actually - I think it's the most musically and had a lot of potential, but the way Leland/Leslie (especially Leland) get more time in the rusical than any of Angie/Deja/Jorgeous/Daya and probably Willow too (she was basically in one scene) was so unfortunate and made it hard for me to enjoy. I get that there's always gonna be starring roles but I think for two celebrities to get more content than 4 or 5 of the queens was just...such a bad decision. Not a knock against Leland/Leslie as talent, but like, make it a Rusical with a bigger cast and change it to Christine and the Duchess so the queens can fulfil the roles.
That’s a really great viewpoint! Turning the celebrity roles in actual roles for the queens is a really great idea. It for sure would have made the role distribution way more fair.
Also, it just would have been cool for it to be a lesbian spin on Moulin Ru. Drag Race needs to hire you as a writer 😩

For me, Wigloose is now the number #1 on the list, what a great rusical

TBH I think Rats the Rusical from UK season is best of all time, but surprised how much I agree with the rest of this list!

Bruh I'm still so mad that they put Laila in the bottom over Kim Chi. Also I would personally switch Shade: The Rusical to 4th place just because that live singing for some of them needed work and I think that once you remove nostalgia it's not as good as Bitch Perfect. Overall great list! Madonna was just so iconic and the way that Gigi commanded that stage the second she appeared combined with her flawless choreography cemented her win. You add Jan's solid performance, Crystal's super unexpected but awesome entrance, and all of the other girls honestly giving it their all and it was one of the best rusicals in a long time.
Yeah Kim Chi did have a bit of plot armour but at the end of the day, I’m just happy we got to see as much of her as we did. Would have been such a shame to see her go home that early

I think part of the reason Madonna works so well is because they had the queens record their own verses which makes the verse their own but also alleviates the pressure of singing live. That being said, I think that lip syncing is by far the easiest thing for them to do, but having the queens do their own parts (pre-made or live) really elevates it to that next level
i never gave the moulin ru a fighting chance bc i had completely had it with rumixes of ru songs being done on s14 still...
The algorithm bringing this to me the day before season 15’s Rusical airs is no coincidence.

I H A T E the Trump Rusical, like, i don't remember a single bit of it, i hated watching it, i wanted it removed from my memory. And usually i love rusicals, like i think i know every line in Shade, but the trump one literally hurt me.

Moulin Ru and Wigloose are the only 2 rusicals that i legit enjoyed watching and went "wow that was good", like they could legit belong on a big stage. The rest are just cringy and uncomfortable "when you order it from Wish" type of performances. Reallyt not a fan of tacky drag parodies.
I mean, Wigloose felt like I was watching an Actual theatre performance. You could feel passion and emotion, and the strong message behind it. (I mean, Anetra's solo, hello?)
