    He never fails to do it right. I'm so glad and grateful for how he teaches respect for the plants. How he acknowledges how it's used here and all the other people and traditions that use this.

    Here in Latvia there's insane amounts and we live in a peat area so bogs everywhere. With my little girl we always keep rubbing the leaves between our hands and sniffing it and now we've learnt so much. My 5-year-old is an absolute fan of yours, she's saying you're like the wise old elf ( it's a compliment, she says I'm old, too so please no offence 🤣) and if you say we should pick it now then we should get going. So off we go on a bog adventure to the local woods. Many many thanks for bringing more magic into our life and sending you lots and lots of love and appreciation from Latvia ♥️
    BTW we've picked lots of conkers, here the local elderly pick them every year claiming how beneficial it is and we picked a few buckets of it and made a conkers pit in which we march for a foot massage or just hang out in it to read stories. The locals use it externally with vodka but also carry it in their pockets and put them in the bed. I wonder if you use them at all. Anyway, huge respect Sir Wise Old Elf, you're awesome ♥️

      @@happyrapture1370 many thanks ♥️ the little one is very proud of her knowledge and keeps teaching her little friends about the plants with lots of passion ❤️ when out on a walk or bike ride she keeps observing, noticing, acknowledging and it keeps her entertained - never bored. For her, bumping into plants is like bumping into friends and checks on them how they are doing and if they look ok or anything interesting about them. This is so important I think because other kids are bored outside without entertainment, gadgets and toys because they have no connection and are overstimulated in general. Nature is always calming and comforting and the least a parent can do is to encourage kids to find connection and entertainment even if there's no apps, screens or gadgets just beautiful Mother Nature 💚 will make this a better world if the next generation has a bond with plants 💚 Yarrow is making learning entertaining and his videos are priceless, the kind of screen time that you watch for 10 minutes, then you spend the entire day outside 💚

      Awe, everybody should have woods local to home -- imagine that -- as always was, until relatively very recently.

    • @BeeVargaTheHulahooper
      @BeeVargaTheHulahooper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@reforest4fertility I am blessed beyond description. We live in a village that was built in the middle of wild dense woodland in the 50s when the Soviets discovered there's peat here. Before that there was no houses or village just wilderness. Then the Soviet Union collapsed, they made this into a nature reserve and since then no new houses got built so we still have a tiny community with forest as far as you can see around us. There's only 1 road leading to us. No through roads... Even if you drive it takes about 30min to get to a busier road and see signs of humans. first I came to visit in 2013 and I knew I have to live here. Took me a few years of working hard in the UK and saving up to make the brave jump and say I had enough, I leave my business and career behind, the forest is calling me and my daughter was tiny, I knew I want her to not miss out on growing up in nature. So all I worked hard for in my profession I left behind scared and not knowing how long we last or what is going to happen. The best decision I ever made. My kid is having the fairy magic wild and free childhood I wanted for her and it is priceless. Scary decisions can lead to incredible destinations and magical adventures.

    Labrador should always be steeped, never boiled! Too many terps can cause your bowels to relax too much and we all know the embarrassment that may cause. A few spruce candles will give it a slight citrus taste but I usually steep mine with several small Cedar sprigs and use a small marble sized piece of Maple sugar for sweetness! I enjoy your Eco-tours and look forward to seeing more! Thank you!

    Yes, dose is everything. I've noticed since I started using castor oil, cuz here in Canada we've got Both French & Inklish labelling. Called "Ricin" in French, only goes to show how many medicinals are toxic in high or isolated form, so a little can go a longer way.

    When I first started learning about traditional medicine, muskeg tea was the first one I started with. One day I woke up and decided I would have muskeg tea to start my morning, I ended up having 3 cups before 10 am, and by that time I was out by 3 pm. So, I only drink a cup now, some days, I’ll boil it longer when I have bad insomnia or anxiety. Very strong medicine.

    Cool, what a great way to end my evening. I absolutely love your videos. I wish I had your knowledge. I really admire you for the respect you have for mother nature. Kindred spirits in many ways. I was ALWAYS in the woods or forest that surrounds me and just learning about foraging and what herbs could do as medicine. Then unfortunately badly injured my back around 10 yrs ago. Now can barely walk to my kitchen. Have been searching for a surgeon without much luck that thinks they can help me. BUT (crossing my fingers) I think I might have finally found one. I see her Monday. I have to have faith bc taking me out of nature was/is killing my soul... Anyway I was wondering if you could recommend (someone like you) that has written a book about southwestern Ohio on how to identify and what benefits local plants, herbs and what my mom would call weeds in this area. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT I WILL WALK IN THESE WOODS AGAIN!!! I realize that I can buy these things online but as I am now, I'm trying to make ends meet on a very low fixed income. And buying them takes all the fun out of it... Thanks Yarrow~

    Is this the same herb also known as Ceanothus ? I am trying to ID what we have growing here in the Kootenays. It has the high terpene/volatile oil content judging from the aroma. The leaves curl inward during the winter months and it does have that rodo leave structure BUT it tends to grow on VERY HOT & DRY hillsides? and the bushes can get MASSIVE (8 - 10 ft tall) Is this safe to harvest into tea, or is it possibly a different species? Hoping you, or someone can help a sista out. Peace & Ease

    Love your channel but could you not put out the videos to coincide with when the plants are out not a plant that you cant get in october which blooms in July. That way we can pick them after watching and not forget about it when July comes around again. Thank you love the info.

      Monique Janssen this is a plant that is best picked in the fall or spring. It’s just that the flowers bloom mid summer and that’s an easy way to identify it, but that’s not the best time to pick it.

    How do you brew it?
    How much is too much? Do you mix it with anything else?

      Just throw a couple leaves into hot water just below boiling point and steep for 3 to 5 minutes stirring a couple times. Depending on when it's harvested and the age of the leaves the potency can vary its best to start with just a couple leaves per cup. After you have done this a couple times if you feel confident you can add more then step it up one leaf at a time

      Pople BackyardFarm Labrador tea was used to replace Black tea during the American revolution. If you like black tea I am sure you will enjoy this one as well.
