    I just got my Phrozen Sonic Mini (first printer ever) and I have had trouble printing (mostly user error I'm sure). I have been trying to print figures and almost no luck. I followed this series on Chitubox and I got my first successful, no flaws print. Before I was trying to use auto supports, PrusaSlicer, etc... but bottomline, your philosophy is 100% sound. Using the combination of Heavy, medium and light supports make the support marks barely noticeable after removal. Thanks for making these videos!!

    I'm sure you know by now, but some might not, if you find you can't move a support base, move the connector back to another support and you'll be able to move it wherever. There's some kind of rule about supports not being allowed to intersect with the model., but if it's connected to a support you can clip through whatever other supports you want.

    (4:00) - Does Combining heavy support posts affect the actual supporting of the model? EG: you show about 15-20 heavy supports bebg added to the foot. Is it helpful/efficient to say combine the 'base' part of the support with other nearby supports but still have the 'tip' connect in multiple spots? So if I see a clump of 3 supports, and combine them into 1 'base' but 3 'tips' - does that compromise the stability/support of the print?

    What do you do when you get islands on the model where it is in a tight space where the support doesn't fit well and you really only get the middle with out the top and bottom contact points. As an example, an ear to a shoulder or shoulder pads to an arm.

    I understand that you make an angle (10 degrees) with the miniature, not to have one big flat (feet for example) miniature-surface that might stick too hard to the plate. However, seeing all your support placed on the plate, there is just another flat surface of supports created, basically a new "foot" of support on the plate (see 6:45). Why not place the miniature (in this case) just flat on the surface, without lifting it 5mm up from the plate?

    Hi, helpfull video! thank you!
    I’ve a question anyway, You said in the video that you rarely clean the vat after the print. You just pour the resin in the bottle? What about the resin that will remain liquid inside the vat’s recess? Thx

    • @davep.7444
      @davep.7444 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Anything that remains inside the vat can be reused, but it does require filtering before it goes back in the bottle. There are special filter funnels that you would use to catch the cured bits that are floating free. When he talks about cleaning the vat, he's talking about chipping hardened chunks of resin that adhere to the bottom and sides of the vat, instead of just scraping liquid resin out of the vat. I could be wrong since I don't have a resin 3D printer yet, but all the research I've done indicates that's what you need to do with leftover resin that's not getting used right away.

    • @davechilds3268
      @davechilds3268 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just buy some paint filters and a rubber funnel from any hardware store, and you can easily filter resin either into a clean plastic cup, then back into the tray, or back into the bottle. Obviously, dispose of anything you use responsibly.

  • @HavoCentral

    • @Antonio-qu9fv

      Yes. these connections are called cross sections and they are built automatically, even when you're placing the support manually. To change these settings, under "auto support", change "cross start height" for cross sections at lower heights and "cross width" for longer connections (version 1.8.5)
