    I almost got rid of my tics entirely through diet, supplementation, and optimizing thyroid hormone. They were AWFUL before I started changing my diet. I cut out foods that spike insulin (gluten, dairy, processed foods), those that cause allergies (pesticides, antibiotics, dairy, grapes, etc), and that are just not healthy for you (preservatives, artificial flavoring, coloring). Apparently there is a large correlation between insulin resistance, allergies, and tics.
    * I use to have OCD as well. My anxiety and depression went when I started eating differently as well.

      You should look into the gut connection. I don't think there are many studies on this but that is why gluten affects tics (as well as how it affects insulin). It can take 3-6 months to 'heal' your gut. Gluten does not immediately cause my tics to become worse because I do not have an allergy to gluten. Over time if I consume gluten they will get worse. Dairy immediately affects my tics because I have an allergy.

      100% this. Eliminating dairy was more effective in reducing my tics than taking antipsychotic medication 3 times a day. I was gluten free for a year but sadly that didn't work as well. I was able to go off all medication for a while as I hardly ticced for nearly 2 years after cutting out dairy but my tics returned along with severe neurological, psychiatric and physical issues after an infection so now I am going to soon get tested for Lyme and Bartonella and see a naturopath to see if they can help heal my immune issues.

      I'm glad that your tics have gone almost entirely!

      One more important thing - you should look into autoimmune disease and MCAS. I have autoimmune disease and that is why I embarked on my journey to get healthier. The elimination of my tics almost entirely was not expected. Autoimmune disease is common and largely undiagnosed. I had to go to a NP to run blood work and finally get diagnosed. I absolutely knew I had it but my doctor would not the possibly that I had it.

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you were finally able to get diagnosed and get the blood work done! I have autoimmune issues too - likely PANS and possibly something else too. Discovering autoimmunity and finding the root is such an important step! 😄 I will also look into histamine issues similar to MCAS one day as that could also explain some of the issues I have. Everyone should have this knowledge that you have!

    One Question:
    When you said you noticed you were eating Cheese and it made the ticks worse. Were you eating breakfast Cereal at the time or around the time when you ate Dairy?

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both cheese and milk from the breakfast cereal triggered me, ice cream too, so that's why I went fully dairy free. ♡

    The crux is to try a cancellation food plan for 3 months with the objective of better health. What epitomises cancellation diet is clean Carnivore.
    To acclimate, 6 months of CLEAN Keto sticking to 3 meals per day:
    Foods
    Salt, Peeper and any other spices
    Eggs (preferrably pasture raised organic)
    Asparagus
    Leek
    Broccoli
    Cauliflower
    Swiss Chard/Silverbeet
    Avocado
    Cucumber
    Cabbage
    Butter
    Onions
    Aged cheese
    Grass fed, grass finished 80/20 Ground beef (Beef Mince)
    Mushrooms
    Sardines (Spring water
    Tuna (wild caught, spring water)
    Chicken (preferrably organic free range. Drumsticks or Breast)
    Pumpkin seeds (handful), Brazil (only 2 per day) and Walnuts (handfull)
    Beverage: Water (reverse osmosis 4 stage or bottled mineral water in glass preferred)
    Raw Sauerkruat
    Raw Kimchi
    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Extra Virgin Avocado Oil
    Feta (goat cheese, no additives except Salt)
    No grains or processed foods, this includes porridge and oats, crackers.
    No refined vegetable/seed oils like Canola, Soy, Sunflower
    No fast food. Only exceptions are usually Salads
    Optional:
    Chicken liver, heart, neck, feet
    Beef heart, kidney
    Meats should only be that meat. There should be no additives like canola oil, soy etc. Look on bag for 100% of the selected meat.
    I would suggest following a thoroughly researched Carnivore heat-to-tail Meat, Water and Spices, including salt, diet after 6 months of Keto.
    Remember, 3 times a day and always have enough food to the point that youre not hungry at all until your next meal.
    For id eat at 5am, 1pm, 7pm but I eat 2 meals a day which are 1pm and 5pm. I dont recommend 2 meals a day for you.
    Example of what I eat:
    1st meal: 2 avocados, 5 eggs done in butter (lightly scrambled) or 160g tuna, cheese omelette.
    2nd meal: Half head of cabbage, broccoli, onion, 100-200g of chicken or beef mince (and/or chicken liver occasionally) done in EVOO and Butter. Pumpkin seeds and 2 Brazil nuts.
    No added sugar.

    There is a blood test that can determine food sensitivities. Much easier than going through the elimination.rotation diet. Also avoid applied kinesiology to determine food reactions as the same person can go to five different chiropractors and get tested and they arrive at five different conclusions.

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know but a lot of people have gotten inaccurate results from the blood test (some people say they are very helpful though). A lot of us can't afford the food sensitivity testing so we have to look for patterns and eliminate based on that which has worked very well for me.

    @ticcers unite What are some natural supplements that you have found to be helpful in treating your tics?

    • @ChronicAdvocate
      @ChronicAdvocate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I personally haven't found supplements helpful but elimination of food sensitivities have been helpful for me. Magnesium is reported to be helpful for some people though. Some people have found using both magnesium and Vitamin B6 to be helpful. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19087826/
      The book "Natural Treatment For Tics And Tourette’s" By Sheila Rogers Demare has more information on supplements which is helpful. The group "Natural Care For Tics and Tourette’s" on Facebook has some good information too.

      @@janigrohn4516 Thanks! I never had a single tic until I turned 19. One day I just started thrusting/tensing my body, then at age 25 the vocal tics started. Nowadays it's shouting/verbal outbursts/yelling swear words/bruising my body/biting myself and seems to happen around 30 times a minute. So weird after never having them and yet I've had them half my life now. Can't drive the last 3 years or leave the house. My gut is awful and im ige allergic to everything, I've also had chronic Bartonella since I was 18 and lived in a water damaged building the last 6 years. I've read carnivore is a brilliant tool for mitochondria/leaky gut/immune regulation so I'm hoping the lion diet brings me some instant relief while I tackle the underlying cause (leaky gut/mold/bartonella). Great to hear you got rid of them after that long! I'm personally terrified mine are permanent as they're severe, and there's some literature on pandas/autoimmunity attacking intercholinergic neurons in the basal ganglia. But perhaps the body can heal that. Only one way to find out though!
