The lead stars of the movie, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor, recently featured on separate episodes of Mid-day's Sit With Hitlist conversation series with Mayank Shekhar. This always blows my mind that Kareena used to think Tashan is going to be her career changing movie while JWM would just be another movie which will be forgotten but the way tables turned and we have JWM as one of the most popular and loved movie of bollywood.

I have watched this movie for more than 50 times and even I have had known the timings of all the songs accurately and dialogues are in my blood.

But i loved the way geet character was written, she has a maturity curve where she changes as the movie progresses.

Me n my gf (now wife) saw this movie 3 times after I proposed her almost 17 yrs back.. n then, as I was 4 yrs senior to her passed from college. Her parents scolded her after knowing about us n then we used to talk once in a month. I did hard study (500 km away) for my postgraduate exam (we thought it would be only option to impress her family) n my postgraduate in medicine just to marry her.. n after total 7 yrs of proposing her, her parents n relatives agreed when was in final yrs of MD... meanwhile she almost rejected 30, 40 rishtey by big big relatives.. everytime any boy n family used to come to see her, I used to be in extreme stress.. we used to talk very less but still remained in contact as she was from far away city. Finally, with her n my parents met n we married happily with permission of all... This movie n songs are special to us coz it reminds us how much struggle we did ..

Shahid said it so right his early movies were really good he was extremely adorable but box office couldn’t make it but the songs did. Kareena was hyped but his pairing with ayesha takia, amrita rao was memorable 💗
They were disasters only Bebo and Shahid looks good no one hyped it.

@Storifiedyt yes vivaah is something else the film itself is a blockbuster but unlike kareena shahid didn't get many of such kind films jab we met was another big hit but the other films he did wiz amrita or any were films which can be watch on TV not blockbusters bcs he didn't get big offers even after films like vivaah which is not good also bcz he wasn't nepo n other big producers didn't know that he will remain in the industry for long now they know his performance but kinda late coz he missed big movies like padmavat he did in his 40s before that why no one casted him in big movies infact for this role also he wasn't the first choice so basically he had a journal of an underrated star
While sry to say but I think vicky ayushmn r overrated they don't have the charm shahid possessed in his 20 30s even his brother can't match shahid then nor now

When we friends went to see this movie first day first show in a small town there were hardly any people in the theater! But we loved the movie and this is the only movie where she acted well! Afterwards the movie picked up and became a huge hit.

It shows us starkids have no idea what audience likes. She just happened to play Geet, not because she is talented, but because of Imtiaz Ali.

What fantastic about this film is this remains to be a fresh breath still to this date and we can never get over it, generations to come may come and see and make this film eternal as it has been for 16 years. I genuinely want to see Kareena and Shahid together not being strangers at different function/shows and just be greeting each other nicely without being awkward because that's what we see. They have positively moved on in their lives and its far behind now. We would love to see they both sitting in an interview together and reminiscing JWM for that only give true essence to the memory of such a great film. JWM is the description of our generation.

So what if the movie was named Geet!? if the primary subject matter of a film revolves around the female protagonist than it's the directors prerogative to name the film after her. Quite a problematic reaction from Shahid Kapoor but what's even more problematic and IGNORANT is to bring in up now in 2023- thinking it would be a funny conversation piece. I bet directors wouldn't think twice to name a film after the hero or even care as to how the FEMALE SUPERSTAR would feel seeing the script.
