    please do an in-depth review of the NEW RCBS SUPREME

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would love to do a detailed review of the RCBS Supreme powder dispenser I think it is a much more affordable option but a little less accurate than the matchmaster scale. I will certainly see if we can get one in for some testing! As always thank you for watching and thank you for the suggestion!

    In your opinion...which is better? The RCBS matchmaster OR supreme for average guy use ? ? ?

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest it really depends on what you are doing for the average guy the supreme is probably going to work just fine. I use the Matchmaster a lot just to keep things a little more consistent for the extensive amount of testing we do but for the average guy that isn't looking to squeeze every bit of accuracy out of a said rifle or load I think the supreme would work just fine. We will be doing a review of the supreme in the near future so keep you eye out for that as well! --Jeremiah

    Thanks for your video. My concern with the new electronic dispensing devices is that they use a load cell that measures weight (force) not mass compared to the older balance beam devices. Balance beams negate the affect of gravity. Grains are a unit of measurement for mass. Mass and weight are not equal. Weight is based on elevation above sea level because the acceleration, due to gravity, changes with elevation from sea level. It also changes on location relative to longitude and latitude. Does this device ask the user to enter their location above sea level. If not it is not measuring mass that is listed in hand loading manuals. Weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity. Clearly, using a load / force transducer will not be measuring mass! This my seem petty and inconsequential, but I thought that viewer should be aware of these physics realities.

      While I can appreciate what you are saying however variables apply to balance beam scales as well. And it is important to us to provide the most accurate and reliable data possible. Weight is really the force of gravitational attraction between two objects and is given by Mr. Newton's formula for Gravitation: F=GmM/r2. Therefore depending on altitude you are further from the center of the earth, the attraction between two objects, you and the earth changes slightly with altitude. While it is true that the RCBS Matchmaster uses a strain gauge load cell the difference between that and the balance beam scale as far as altitude effects the weight reading is very minimal. In addition to that you have variables with a balance beam scale as well. Both the Matchmaster and a balance beam scale are zeroed to your bench if you will, your altitude and location. This is done during the calibration process so your scale can work correctly and give you the proper weight and both could have minor variations in weight from one scale to another in the laboratory where the Load data was tested. The beauty of the matchmaster and even balance beam scales is there ability to weigh consistently. Which we know consistency is key to creating accurate handloads. The Matchmaster just weighs and dispenses much faster than a balance beam ever could. I appreciate the comment and I hope this all makes sense. Thank you for watching!

      Thanks for your feedback!!! Your force equation is hard to interpret, since the most basis formula is F = m x a. I don’t wish to knit pick this, my main purpose was to let viewers know that a balance beam measures mass and the load sensor devices measure force. They are not the same.

      @@ericabig3471 No Problem! Thank you for your comment, it is a very interesting subject and you got my wheels turning! Which I can always appreciate. I should have been more clear that formula is for gravity and the effects of it, between two objects IE the balance beam scale and the earth. It would apply to a balance beam scale as G= gravitational constant (which we know isn't a true constant) I wish I could reply with a picture as that would make a lot more sense. I know I may be knit picking this as well but I find it a most interesting topic. That is true that a balance beam and a load cell are different and it would be very interesting to see what exactly the difference is mathematically. I know practically the differences after calibration are essentially no existent. As I have tested this on my bench but if you were to compare weights at different altitudes it would be very interesting to see the differences based on location between both the Load cell and the balance beam. Sadly I don't think this would be feasible with our limited testing capability. It is an interesting Physics problem, I appreciate your response and thank you for watching and for all your support! Good loading to you sir!

    Not sure I like the idea of the method of dumping the hopper and having to move the scale around like that. Thinking the Bluetooth app is more than I want to do to just dispense powder as well, it's a nice bells & whistles feature, but.... And I'd prefer to just write down the charges I'm working with, no risk of losing them on a krapped out or lost phone. Maybe the unit itself still has the storage mode that the 1500 has? IF it does, will that speed it up the same way as using the Bluetooth app? Being as that wasn't really stated, may want to clarify that? .08 total spread +/- in the charge weight, significantly better than .20, but, not necessarily worth double the price to me, with the attendant idiosyncrasies of a low end lab grade scale, so to speak. Lot of good thought there, but, not going to commit to one at this point. It doesn't really do anything any better, that I can't do with an FX120 and a pair of Lee spoon dispensers, or an Autotrickler V3, which isn't that much extra. That's what I see at this point.

      Dave Collins You don't have to wiggle it around if you don't want to like we stated in the video you can use clean air to blow it out. We found a camera lens "rocket blower" works great as well. Alternatively you can simply wait a little longer and let the tubes drain themselves. The Bluetooth App is not mandatory and everything you can do in the app you can do with the unit itself except for the load logs in which case you can write those down as well. We prefer to do the same and that is why we did not show that part of the app. We have had this unit for about 3 months and so far the scale has performed flawlessly and has displayed accuracy very close to and even on par with the A&D FX120i. We think it is a nice in between the Autotrickler V3 and the FX 120i with a trickler or lee dippers. We do our best to showcase the product in a honest no bias way. It has always been our goal at Handloader magazine to help share information on handloading from equipment to precision load development and everything in between. I hope this answers your questions and concerns and appreciate you watching! If you have any other questions feel free to drop us a comment!

      Luckily we have a few extra lying around the problem is getting 2 that weigh the exact same down to .02 grains. It would be pretty awesome to have 2 matching pans though! We have been very impressed with it's performance and we are still using it for almost all of our reloading.

    How did RCBS figure that draining the hopper from underneath was a good idea?

    • @HandloaderTV
      @HandloaderTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure on that one to be honest, I am not a big fan of that but I know some folks like it as they simply drill a hole in their bench and never move the unit. That would be a great idea except I don't really like the idea of a big hole in my bench. Personally I would prefer a side drain, but I suppose gravity does help it drain when it drains from the bottom. Not a deal breaker for me personally but not ideal in my humble opinion. We are hoping things get better soon. Powder Valley online is still getting shipments however they sell out very very quickly, also check local shops if possible. Best of luck in your search!
