Seen someone make a good point about mens college bball that I think work with womens too. Guard play in college is so similar when it comes to the tops teams. It’s hard for guards to truly dominate because of the zones and double teams they constantly use. What really separates these teams is the bigs. The size and physicality of a dominant bigs against average bigs makes the difference in these games. Rebounding getting extra possessions for your team and almost automatic offense from a player like Boston is why they dominated.
SC was 14-0 against ranked teams. Beat every team that was in the final four and beat every #1 seed team in the tournament. That's just as impressive if not more impressive than the Championship itself.
Congratulations to the lady Gamecocks. You young ladies understood the assignment before you stepped onto the court. So proud of all of you. Even though I couldn't attend any of your games this year. I'll definitely be at the parade. And Ms. Henderson Ms. Henderson, my baby, you showed up and out.
UCONN's last title was in 2016. Since then, USC has won two titles and would have been favored to win one more had the 2020 tournament not gotten canceled because of COVID. They finished that 2020 season ranked number one. The Gamecocks are the new dynasty in women's college basketball.
I remember thinking 5 years ago that Mississippi State did South Carolina a favor knocking off UConn in the semis stopping their long winning streak, but this South Carolina team felt like the true best team all season long. I wanted a Stanford-South Carolina matchup in the Finals because I thought that would be the best game, but Stanford traditionally seems to fold in the tournament, having been really lucky to win it last year with South Carolina and Arizona having last possession shots to beat them. The Gamecocks proved that great defense is still a key to winning championships.
Congratulations to THE South Carolina Basketball Team. It did seem like the announcers were favoring UConn but the game was not even close. South Carolina dominated the entire game from tipoff.

I LOVE Aliyah Boston and she definitely played a great game so I'm definitely not taking anything away from her, but Destanni Henderson played her heart out and was the difference in this game. She scored 26 points to Aliyah's 11. I hate to say this, but although Aliyah definitely deserved to be presented the awards for Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year I think Destanni should have received the MVP award for the championship game. Congrats Gamecocks!!!
It was unmistakable the chances of this happening again. South Carolina has had such an outstanding roster in these last 4 years that they’d have to breakthrough eventually. Coaching too has been a large key to their success.

Sc crushed every one in the tournament on the boards. Great defensive team. Staley is a great coach and had two guards who played like her but the bigs just were too much Boston patrolled and controlled the paint.

I think uconn is going through a rebuilding process they weren't supposed to make it this far so congratulations for that. South Carolina did a good job staying focused throughout the season and acquiring new talent and congratulations for that. So we will see what happens next season

Happy for South Carolina in their victory, but I am MOST happy for Aliyah Boston for NOT being DENIED for THIS time. I can STILL feel the pain of her heartbreaking lost to South Carolina after that potential game winning open layup didn't fall. As a grown man , watching THAT game end in the unfortunate WAY that it ended made me want to literally JUPM through my TV and wrap my arms around her with a heartfelt embrace that only a FARTHER can give. Unfortunately I couldn't do THAT, but the NEXT best thing I did was pick my TV up can hit IT ( no pun intended ). She MUST have felt it nevertheless, cause HELPED her team win a National Title , and reach EVERY player's ultimate DREAM on ANY team in ANY sport . South Carolina's defense was incredible in this game. Destiny Henderson also did a great job leading her team in scoring. I was expecting the Gamecocks to win it all when the season started, but I thought the score would be much closer than 15 points.
I, used to watch their coach play back in the 90's she was really good to watch on TV. Plus beautiful also, but they took it to the uconn girls basketball team. 👍🏀
This is why UConn needs to change their schedule. Way too many easy games during the season. When they play tall quick physical teams, especially in the Tournament, they are not battle tested nor ready. And losing Dorka the game before was definitely a blow. A lot of this has to be placed on Geno's shoulders. Paige was hurt earlier this season in the final minute of a game where they were up by 25. Others were hurt during the season. If you are not going to play the reserves, don't expect them to be battle tested when playing tough teams. Poor player management has to have the blame placed on coaches.
@Teresa Webb Cupcake games last year and this and unnecessary injuries during the season didn't do them any favors. That said, unless UConn's players got hot from 3, they were never going to win this game. They were not ready for the speed and length of SC. The better team won. Most of it is just lack of talent. ONO had great potential when she first came in as a freshman but she plateaued at the end of her sophomore season. She’s nowhere near the bigs of the past like Tuck & Charles Williams is wayyyy too inconsistent and often can’t handle the pressure. Kia Nurse >>>> Bueckers can’t do it all. Fudd is only a sophomore and they’ve got some good freshmen coming in as well.
If u are ucon fan this is not a game u would want to watch again once was enough. What a way to end a really interesting season. I know SC is good but Liv and Williams really went out on a bad note can't see how this doesn't affect their draft status.Will miss Liv but she never lived up to a top rated center and Williams seemed unhappy and confused way to often very inconsistent but hope the best for them they both seem like nice people.

UConn coach did not do his job and let down his team by not making adjustments, running plays and having the players take better shots. When UConn had a chance to get back into the game and even take the lead their shot selection was bad. again where was the coach. SC deserved to win and played a strong game and executed their plan. it would be shocking if in the post game interview a reporter had the guts to ask Geno about his lack of coaching to hear what his excuses are.

I LOVE Aliyah Boston and she definitely played a great game so I'm definitely not taking anything away from her, but Destanni Henderson played her heart out and was the difference in this game. She scored 26 points to Aliyah's 11. I hate to say this, but although Aliyah definitely deserved to be presented the awards for Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year I think Destanni should have received the MVP award for the championship game. Congrats Gamecocks!!!
It was unmistakable the chances of this happening again. South Carolina has had such an outstanding roster in these last 4 years that they’d have to breakthrough eventually. Coaching too has been a large key to their success.
Yeah even the Mad Kiki , Ty Harris team , the year Covid cancel tournament. I think this would be their 3rd had that tournament been played .

Sc crushed every one in the tournament on the boards. Great defensive team. Staley is a great coach and had two guards who played like her but the bigs just were too much Boston patrolled and controlled the paint.

I think uconn is going through a rebuilding process they weren't supposed to make it this far so congratulations for that. South Carolina did a good job staying focused throughout the season and acquiring new talent and congratulations for that. So we will see what happens next season

Happy for South Carolina in their victory, but I am MOST happy for Aliyah Boston for NOT being DENIED for THIS time. I can STILL feel the pain of her heartbreaking lost to South Carolina after that potential game winning open layup didn't fall. As a grown man , watching THAT game end in the unfortunate WAY that it ended made me want to literally JUPM through my TV and wrap my arms around her with a heartfelt embrace that only a FARTHER can give. Unfortunately I couldn't do THAT, but the NEXT best thing I did was pick my TV up can hit IT ( no pun intended ). She MUST have felt it nevertheless, cause HELPED her team win a National Title , and reach EVERY player's ultimate DREAM on ANY team in ANY sport . Great performance South Carolina, but teams is NOW preparing for another EPIC performance SEQUEL 2, can't WAIT.

South Carolina's defense was incredible in this game. Destiny Henderson also did a great job leading her team in scoring. I was expecting the Gamecocks to win it all when the season started, but I thought the score would be much closer than 15 points.
Great game and your watching the changing of the gaurd in real time and Carolina is gonna trouble for a while.

This is why UConn needs to change their schedule. Way too many easy games during the season. When they play tall quick physical teams, especially in the Tournament, they are not battle tested nor ready. And losing Dorka the game before was definitely a blow. A lot of this has to be placed on Geno's shoulders. Paige was hurt earlier this season in the final minute of a game where they were up by 25. Others were hurt during the season. If you are not going to play the reserves, don't expect them to be battle tested when playing tough teams. Poor player management has to have the blame placed on coaches.
@Teresa Webb Cupcake games last year and this and unnecessary injuries during the season didn't do them any favors. That said, unless UConn's players got hot from 3, they were never going to win this game. They were not ready for the speed and length of SC. The better team won. Most of it is just lack of talent. ONO had great potential when she first came in as a freshman but she plateaued at the end of her sophomore season. She’s nowhere near the bigs of the past like Tuck & Charles

If u are ucon fan this is not a game u would want to watch again once was enough. What a way to end a really interesting season. I know SC is good but Liv and Williams really went out on a bad note can't see how this doesn't affect their draft status.Will miss Liv but she never lived up to a top rated center and Williams seemed unhappy and confused way to often very inconsistent but hope the best for them they both seem like nice people.

I feel like UCONN made a valiant attempt to win however it takes an entire team on both sides to win a game and "should haves" on UCONN's part would not have made it any different. UConn coach did not do his job and let down his team by not making adjustments, running plays and having the players take better shots. When UConn had a chance to get back into the game and even take the lead their shot selection was bad. again where was the coach. SC deserved to win and played a strong game and executed their plan. it would be shocking if in the post game interview a reporter had the guts to ask Geno about his lack of coaching to hear what his excuses are.
Azzi fudd just let her team down 3 points only she just looked lost confused #1 freshman and just let Paige down gave her no help I hope she cryed after that loss hope she felt that pain because if she thought that she could play that much minutes and not score they could win she was wrong
This senior class has a history of playing terrible in big games. Westbrook showed up but the other 2 were AWFUL
