    I started ttrpg's in the 70's, waiting for the 1st edition AD&D to come out :) Been reading systems if not playing them ever since. Rpg gaming has taken quite a journey through the decades :) I LOVE all these OSR and nu-OSR systems coming out, it's beautiful :)

      That’s very awesome so you are quite knowledgeable!!! I wish I would have gotten into TTRPG’s earlier. I read different systems as well even if I’m don’t plan on playing them anytime soon if at all. I’m very happy to have found OSR games. I came in thru DnD 5e.

      Have you ever played a 2d6 fantasy system from back then? I'm tracking this mechanic from early systems. I and many people on developing countries back in 90s and early 00s, learned rpg through 2d6 homebrews, because of the rarity and cost of rpg dice and books. Blackmoor and many proto rpgs and wargames used this, so I'm surprised it wasn't more common during the 70s.

      I have not played 2D6 Fantasy systems.

    I keep landing back on your channel; I've been loving your perspective on the games that you play and the energy you put into giving them all a fair and fun shake. Subbed to see what you create in terms of your own system; I think you'll make something great!

    Awesome highlights, thank you for the video. I love anything Ben Milton has done. He has helped me understand the feel OSR games are trying to emulate compared to more modern games. I'm glad you checked them out and hopefully those random tables help in gming and solo play. I know they have helped me so much in my gming.

      The tables are absolutely helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch. He has helped me to better understand what OSR is. I still have much to learn but I’m open and enjoying the journey.

    Knave 2e will have a ton of spark tables. I forget how it compares to Maze Rats but from what I remember it was a lot of stuff, great for solo. Great to hear that level of enthusiasm, I think they're modern classics. Getting older I tend to prefer more intuitive systems so I can get to the improvisation, I also like the tendency for a lot of games in the OSR/NSR to reduce the emphasis on combat being the primary way to deal with problems, with morale and NPC attitudes sort of adding to that.
    Enjoying watching your discovery of these games

      I really appreciate you taking time to watch. That’s what I love and am learning playing OSR games is having to utilize my critical thinking skills/thinking outside of the box to handle challenges rather than just always combat. So far it’s been a REALLY cool journey learning & playing TTRPG’s. It feels like I’ve finally found somewhere my creativity can soar/expand & is appreciated if that makes sense.

    Ben's channel has been hugely impactful in my getting back to the roots but with that sweet OSR angle of really getting the best out of old school style systems and gaming! I need to take another look at these games. I might very well fall for Knave 2e when it's in the open. I had to restrain myself from the Kickstarter 😅 For me these are mostly great GM tools and food for thought.
    Thanks for the review!

    I loved your video and subscribed. Keep doing ttrpg content! I learned rpg through a 2d6 homebrew here in Brazil, back in early 00s. The system got only 4 stats (Str, Dex, Int, Cha) plus classes, and traits. Quite simple, I made a character and got playing in less than 20 min including the explanation of what was it about. How did it feel to begin in such a rules heavy game as 5e? I only played it once, took more than an hour to make a sheet and played for another hour, the combat being very slow. Did you enjoyed right in the first time? I think that if a learned rpg through 5e, maybe I would never picked up the hobby.

    • @LegendsDiceCafe
      @LegendsDiceCafe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you much ☺️!! I love a good simple/light system. I’m still learning 5e. It was the only TTRPG I knew of at the time so I was enjoying playing and learning despite all the rules. I enjoy 5e but I’m also enjoying the journey learning about other TTRPG’s. Combat can be slow. I enjoyed it my first game. I’m still playing in the 1st campaign I started last year 😃 with 5e. We have our last session this Saturday.
