    I had bought Monroe. Shocks for my 2006 Silverado.front But I noticed that the bushes were smaller different than what I took out. So now it rattles The original bushes were much larger and it had something in the center of the Bushing I wanted to see a picture of it.

      Some shocks dont come with the proper bushings. I did reuse mine. New ones are available on Amazon for about $10. Good luck!

    Thank you for showing the actual removal. Wasn't sure where the shock gets out of the spring area.

    Hello, I Can't seem to find the bolts for the front shocks the two that go on the cross bar at the bottom of the shock mines need to be replace.

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are just GM 10mm shock bolts that you can find at most part stores. I got some recently at Oreilly Auto Parts for about $5 for a set.

    Whats the torque on the bolts on bottom and on top?

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry for the late reply, torque should be about 18 on bottom bolts and about 15 on top. Or as we say down here, “about 1 ugga dugga” 😂

    Disculpa mi pregunta, el resorte no tiene que cambiarse

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no tiene que cambiar o quitar el resorte para reemplazar el amortiguador en estos camiones

    I just changed front shocks on my 99 GMC. The old shocks came with bigger bushings and a metal sleeve. The new shocks came with smaller bushings and no sleeve. I'm wondering now if the threaded rod will eventually wear out the bushings where they connect to the mount.

      I actually just replaced the front shocks again, I didnt like the ride of the ones in this video. With the new shocks, they also had the smaller bushings. I ordered the correct "shock mount insulator" through RockAuto and put them on. Beefy and no worries about them wearing out! They are Dorman Part #'s 905499 and 905500.

    Good job, short and to the point with tools needed specified as well. I bought the AC-Delco shocks for my 2000 2wd Silverado from Rock Auto as well. Saved a bunch of money against going to the dealer.

      Donald Hollums thanks! Im the typical backyard mechanic but cant stand paying somebody else to fix something I can figure out & do myself. If I can help people at the same time, then its a WIN!

    Do I put jack stand under the control arm??

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Francisco Leyva Yes, jack up the body and support it with stands and also jack up the control arm to relieve some of the weight. It gives you room to drop the shock out of the bottom.

    i try the same method but the 2 bottom bolt broke. how can i fix it. do you know what size bolt i need?

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ggg's fan sorry for the delay in replying, the bolt is a 10mm shock bolt available at most auto parts stores. Just tell the guy behind the counter your vehicle information and he can look it up. Probably costs less than $5 for a package of them. Good luck!

    Curious, are 2WD and 4WD shocks the same part numbers?

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Gruhn probably not. Depending on your suspension & engine package, there are tons of different shocks for the 1500 series trucks. Try Rock Auto. They have the easiest website to look up parts

    • @mikek4isr972
      @mikek4isr972 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, 2WD has the 2 bolts below the control arm, versus 4x4 has a side mount 13/16" bolt/nuts.

    What kind of rims are those ?

    • @troup1993
      @troup1993  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isaiah Frausto they are the stock GMC steele wheels with the chrome insert & center cap. They came on the truck when it was new. Honestly I would rather have a set of the 2015-ish aluminum Sierra wheels. Someone stole one of my center caps in a parking lot a few weeks ago so the truck looks a bit naked right now
