I just replaced all tie rods, all shock absorbers and brake pads. I wasn’t too sure on the tie rods and shocks but your videos clarified a lot and you didn’t excessively talk and play dumb background music. Just wanted to say thanks.

@@hitmanm818 unfortunately no, the 2008 tahoe has struts in the front meaning its the shock and spring together

4:52 would that be bad every time you jack the truck up the shock would be holding up the tire and control arm?
would have been nice to see those lower shock bushings get replaced, mine were so done that you could see daylight through the rubber outers
Yea those are definitely bad lol...they would have to be pressed out and pressed back in, some will come out easier than others
Don’t forget to put the shaft bushing/spacer between the rubber bushings on the top shaft. If ya don’t , the shock will bounce around in the upper mount!!!!!!
It depends on the shock and the bushings it uses..the ones i used dont require those

Thank you🙂...not sure, some shocks come with double nut and others with lock nuts..but i would expect a more well known brand like monroe to include locknuts
I skip method 1 and 2 when it comes to the top nut I prefer method 3 is just "cut it off" 😉 You took off the tire.... why all the extra work geeshhh could swear they recommend leaving tire on and not jacking it up. Just get a couple heavy cable ties or tie wire compress the shock then strap or wire it so it will not open back up then bolt the bottom of the shock clip the wire or strap aa you direct the top of the shock trough the hole as it opens. Very simple and saves tons of time but ofc you will need a grinder or sawzall for cutting.
Lol yea i guess cutting things can work but not my preferred go to if the parts come off...now if theyre rusted or stripped then i may cut em...if i left wheel on..i wouldn't be able to get good camera angles🙂

Most instructions I have *read* say to leave the tires on. Did you feel it couldn't be done without the tires off?
It can be done, but for video purposes i took the wheels off...gives better angles on the bolts and what im doing.

Do you have anything on torsion key replacement 05 Silverado , in the rust belt?
Unfortunately no, but if i do have to anytime soon ill be sure to make a video on it.
I did a leveling kit on a 01 a 5lb sledge and shit loads of pb blaster wasn’t enough, I had to use a pneumatic air hammer hitting the bar out of the key. I also hit on the torsion bar with the 5lb sledge while using the air hammer and that’s finally what busted it free. One side came apart easy the last side turned into a project
Same process for a 1500 2001?
Its the same as the 4wd version and i believe the 1500hd...but theres certain ones that have 2 smaller bolts on the lower mount..ud have to peek under to see the design of the shock..if it looks the same then yes.
What shocks did you use?
I used the autozone brand duralast shocks

So you really don’t have to jack it up unless that top nut won’t catch?
If that top nut catches u wont have to lift up on the control arm
so if i pull the shock apart thats bad right?

What if you have a 4 inch lift?
it depends if they kept stock setup..they sell shocks that are same but longer for the lift
you forgot to put anti seize on the bolts
U dont wanna use antiseize..u want the bolts and nuts to hold..antiseize might allow them to loosen up
