I remember 1995 was a crazy year for the Irish this game and the Army Gil’s line stand stood out.. close loss at home to Northwestern and blow out loss to OSU.. but killed a 5th ranked USC team at home. These announcers were pulling hard for Washington along with the studio guy Roger Twibell.
Oct. 7, 1995. Roger Twibell subbed for Brent Musburger, who *was* in Seattle, but onsite at The Kingdome for Game 4 of the New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners ALDS on _Baseball Night in America_ later that night on ABC after this game. John Saunders was anchoring the studio shows for the playoffs that weekend. Mark Jones was called into the studio from the broadcast booth to sub for John Saunders that day.
All those announcers sucked too.. Mark Jones still hanging around doing games smh…and is as milk toast boring as it gets. Roger Twibell appeared to be deflated that Notre Dame won that game when they went back to him in the studio. Musberger would have made game more entertaining to watch or had Gus Johnson been around. He is also great. So to my memory it was Dick Vermeil and Mark Jones doing the game. Twibell filling in for John Saunders in the studio.
Shehee - Washington’s running back was terrific in this game! Apparently he was a third round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs and played three years before trying the XFL.
He got banged up a little bit at the beginning of the 1996 season....Corey Dillon would take his job...Scored like 27 TDs that year.....Before being drafted by the Bengals after the season....Shehee would have a great year at UW 1997 before being drafted by the Chiefs...
Very tough defense.. ND Achilles heal was their lack of big play athletes on offense like they had from 1988-1992.. that’s why they couldn’t beat Ohio State in 95/96
#72. Bob Sapp. Is that the same Bob Sapp who was an mma jabroni? All that size and strength, and goes down into the turtle the moment you barely tag him a good one.
Yeah, Paulus was overrated. Watch a majority of the receptions from the receivers that he made. They had to bail him out. His throwing style was so awkward too. They had to wait for him to throw
@@aaronrider4051 I sorta agree, I think had Holtz used him a pure drop-back passer (running the option?, ugh) and not tried make him into something he wasn't, he would have had more success
Ron Powlus was fucking horrible. He was Lou Holtz’s one big ass mistake. Horrible fit for his offense. Was what began the downfall for ND football. So much talent and Powlus neutralized all of it.
Agreed but let’s remember they lost Randy Moss after incident/ brawl in 95 class and Allen Iverson also wanted to come there.. Holtz also wanted Tommy Frazier as well can you imagine that?
I was in 8th grade and vividly remember watching this game with my dad and gramps
Powlus was beginning of the end of what was a great era of ND football
Ron Nutsack
Remember this game like it was yesterday. Great team! Go Irish!!☘️
Bob "the beast" Sapp...future MMA and Japanese wrestling legend!!!
Lou holtz always found a way to win, even with powlus as the QB
Derrick Mayes was pretty damn good at the WR spot
A great road victory for the lads I watched this with my pops .
Allen Rosseum was a total badass
He blasted Boston college in 1997 with kickoff return for TD

Thanks for posting. What a wild one!
Thank you for posting all these condensed games!!!

I went to both games that day. Would have been the greatest sporting day of my life had the Huskies held on.

Husky fan here. I remember this game all too well. Probably the biggest choke job in our programs history.
It’s okay, I’m pretty sure the huskies got ‘em the next year in south bend….oh wait, lol
Huskies were a very good program though and that 1990 team was phenomenal with Ettman

@@williamcooke6056 Indeed!!! He was!
Thanks for upload. Do you have any of 98 ND msu 98 Georgia lsu or 98 Georgia tech Virginia?
Could you kindly add the USC-Notre Dame game of 1995? I greatly appreciate all the games you've posted so far.
Do you happen to have the ND/Texas game from this year? Only the '96 game exists on YT.
ND blew Texas out at home in ‘95
Love to see this as a pac12 game
Oh the purple helmets...........sigh
ND's LB corp of Kinnon Tatum, Kory Minor, LeRon Cobbins and Bert Berry may be the best ever at ND. My favorite at least.
Nasty dudes.

Not
Pick 6 for the cover
That’s a loud stadium
I would like to request a game. 2005 Florida vs South Carolina, Steve Spurrier vs his alma mater coached by first year HC Urban Meyer. Hell of a game.

Yep,that's the jabroni🤢🤢🤢

@@greyfox37 I don't think Powlus was that bad. That play above, at 29:56, was an awesome play.

Awful
Yeah, who can forget Holtz and his ego running amok during his neck brace tour.

I dont think he was that bad but he wasna poor fit for that offense. Lou should have never recruited a QB with no mobility.

Never was the same after broken clavicle too and had decent arm but his lack of athleticism was painfully obvious
@@holidayeveryday550No!! He was horrible
