This exercise added about 50kilos to my front squat (atpr180) and about the same amount for the Jerk (150pr) in a year of training when I was 20. Elbow/shoulder mobility on the rack changes everything stabilization wise (which is 3/4 of weightlifting + the rest is all legs). It gets really easier passed the 140kg mark.
This has been a useful video. When I used to try cleans, the racking part always led to a painful stretch on the inside of the forearms. Now with these stretching warm-up tips, I am going to try doing cleans again. Maybe even do a couple of sets of light front squats first. Fingers..um..crossed.
If in an empty gym, Torokhtiy suggests the behind the neck ones but he says to use straps and add a little weight, less bounce and dont ever do any real weight, because you can hurt your joints if you aren't careful.
I love how he says this is "easy" when you're struggling. Ha Ha
Great series! Thanks!
Klokov is such a legend.
That looks uncomfortable as hell but very effective.

How do I do this if I don't have a partner?
Better late than never.. but you could work on your social skills. Hope it helps.
I guess you could place another bar or stick on the squat rack at your bottom position and push your elbows up when you squat down.
Monster Gamer have a barbell on the rack and do the rest as demonstrated
Do it on a smith machine

"this is easy"

3:40 Don't need a partner. Just front squad with straps. Will force you to stretch.
