I remember watching this when it aired, and I couldn't get that stupid grin off my face when Dante finally called Sonny "Dad." My heart swooned triple time!💜💜
Thats the thing about Sonny, sure his life put the ones he loves in danger, but if it came down to it he'd die for ANY of his kids & thats what a real man is. Anyone who doesn't love sonny is crazy. He messes up alot, but what he lacks in other fields he gains alot with love for his children. LOVE this scene, finally calling him dad :-) *HAPPY CHEER!*
The whole point of the show is you're supposed to suspend your moral qualms about his line of work. It's a mob show. We know that the mob is dark, and dangerous, and full of crime and murder... but it's a show. You're supposed to relate with the characters and see things from their point of view. I'm not a huge soap fan in general, but GH has always interested me where most soaps don't because of that drama thats in it. I find Sonny a compelling character because he seems to avoid killing most of the time unless he feels he has no choice to protect someone and sticks to threats most of the time. You also feel bad for him because you see him as a person who genuinely wants the best for the people around him, but his lifestyle puts them in constant danger, even at the times he's tried to quit the business.
Wow dante really looks like sonny, gh did a great casting call when recruiting dante, he's the same color as him, same height, similar facial features, great casting call.
It's funny because so many fans did not want the writers to soften Dante when it came to Sonny and wanted him to destroy Sonny. They loved Dante and then when writers did just that, they hate on him now. Others like you didn't want that and wanted him to have a relationship with Sonny. You can't please everyone which means Dante will always have one side or the other hating on him.
